Fabinho would seem much better value at a similar price

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Its a pretty uninspiring signing, he's tall and slow, just like Fellaini. I know he's a better footballer, but this isn't an upgrade on the style of football which I believe Fabinho would have brought
I know at the end of the day its about winning trophies, but some of the football we played last season was a disgrace. I think I'm a minority where I'd sooner be entertained than draw 1-1 or grind out 1-0 wins every game
But I'm going to be positive. Its a position we needed to bring somebody in at and it looks like we're doing that and so long as I don't see a midfield pairing Fellaini and Matic (which would make me want to scoop my eyeballs out with melon ballers) then all is good. A competent striker should be next, as good as Rashford could be he's nowhere near ready to be the number one guy

From what I can gather Fabinho is still being done as well due to him being able to fit both RB and DM.

For that kind of money just buy a RB.
Matic ain't a sexy signing but clearly he's trusted by Jose

Nuts and bolts. Also intelligence playing deep; Carrick was still the best at that in their midfield and he's basically dead

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
we do need cover at rb, cant see fabinho replacing Valencia who's been good there for us, but he will rotate as we have no back up at all if we get rid of darmian who keeps getting linked away. carrick is too old now and needs replacing, and while fellaini didnt do too bad for us last season would rather see a better player in his place

I think I've got over the shock of the projected fee now for Matic and accepted the deal.
Its not a glamorous signing but if all he does is sits in front of the back four and tidies up whilst Pogba can play HIS game then I can't complain
Apparently Morata is all but done because his wife followed Man Utd on Instagram

Not a fan of the Matic deal, think he is quite limited. However Mourinho trusts him and he has experience.

It's looking like a summer of Morata, Lindelof, Matic, Fabinho and Perisic.
Is that enough to challenge?

Well so far only 1 deal done - hard to say.
Not sure on Perisic, great pace but aside from that not sure he's up to much.

Morata looks like it's picking up steam being that he's returned from his honeymoon early (either that or they've had a bust up).

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
God only knows Hero. Perez has come out last night and said that there have been no discussions between them and any club in relation to Morata, but then reports suggest that Morata has taken a break in his honeymoon to try and force the move
Talk that Perisic is to be offered a new deal at Inter too and if United lose out in him they may revisit Madrid for rodriguez

If Pogba is the key to United then Matic could be a wonderful move. Id have gone for more dynamism, but subtle clean up play may work just as well

Problem I guess with Matic is the other two need to do the hard yards to make up for his mobility. That was Kantes strength

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Herrera can do that tbh. The guy doesn't stop and whether you rate him or not there isn't a blade of grass he doesn't cover or a tackle he backs out from. I'm not going to make claims that he's better, but I'm not going to say he's worse either (he has other parts of his game that Kante doesn't)

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
I kinda hold my judgement on that one. Do think a clever team can play around them like Arsenal in the FA Cup final.
Ake off to Bournemouth for 20m for some reason.
Sanchez still wants City, Alves expected to join.
Keane off to Everton apparently

AC Milan have made many strides in the transfer window - they've also decided to sign Fabio Borini.
Arsenal have first bids for Lemar and Lacazette turned down.
City also want Sanchez at around £50m, as well as expecting Dani Alves to be official in the next few days.

City could just be scary next season with the attacking talent they'd have
I know they're not exactly solid at the back but that wouldn't mean anything when they could just go and outscore any team they come up against
Kind of feel sorry for Monaco, their team looks to be getting took apart, I know they signed Tielemans but already lost Silva, Bakayoko likely heading to Chelsea, Madrid monitoring MBappe, Fabinho heading to PSG by all accounts and Arsenal sniffing around Lemar

Very much depends for them on how the replacements fit in, they've already bought a lot of very well thought of players in Tielemans, Mboula, Gaspar and Meite.

I can't help but think the Monaco players will falter individually, seemed to be a team rather than a group of outstanding individuals.

I agree. There was an element of riding the crest of a wave (a bit like Leicester) and some players playing above their normal level due to the form of the overall team.
It will be interesting to see which ones sink and which ones keep swimming.
Similar-ish with Leipzig apart from they haven't been ripped apart and their wave has been going for a couple of seasons

Apparently the perisic deal is off afyer inter have found the money required without the need to sell to balance FFP
Cant say im too fissed. Didnt see him as a player who would have improved the first 11 if im honest

id be much more interested in mourinho getting the best out of martial than signing perisic. martial has a lot more top end potential

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Agreed, if we can get Martial back firing on all cylinders then that in itself will feel like a new signing after a disappointment of a campaign last season
Same to a certain extent with Shaw but I think half the battle with him is getting past these persistent little injuries he keeps picking up
Developments on the Perisic story are that United will have to pay 50m euro for him but have until today to meet the valuation, player wants to leave but Spalletti wants to retain the player. If United fail to meet Inters valuation by end of the day then the only way they will sign him this summer is by offering an exorbitant amount over and above the already ludicrous value they're already insisting on

50m euros is far too much for him, City paid that for Bernardo Silva.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
It is, but I don't think it's impossible.
Everton expected to complete the signing of Sandro on Monday. Malaga refusing to release him until the window opens which is what has caused the delay in it being finalised
I think next week will be a very busy week. Think a lot of business will get done, I actually think some has already been done but just waiting for the window to open before its announced
I'll be surprised if United haven't finalised at least 2 more signings by the end of next week as we fly to the States the Monday after I believe and I'd imagine Jose will want new signings as part of the tour

Juve apparently favourites. Although Fiorentina don't want to sell to a Serie A side, they reckon a 35m euro offer and the players unwillingness to sign a new deal may convince them otherwise

Chelsea in talks with Roma over Rudiger. Seem desperate for a centre half. Cahill probably old enough now that you can't expect him to manage Europe and domestic games. Give them Cahill, Azpi, Luiz, Rudiger (or another) and Zouma? As well as a couple younger lads;Andreas Christensen was probably hoping for some game time. He looks like he'll go back on loan.

I would say that Chelsea need a better CB. The quality of those listed is not the standard of a team who should have ambitions of winning the CL.

Which is fair but he's still far from a proven consistent top drawer CB
