Arsenal closing on Laca. That could be fun if Ozil stays.

Surprised that it looks like Marcos Alonso is being replaced rather than Victor Moses on the other side.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Conversation around it appears to suggest it's because Conte wants the option to play 4 at the back and they'd just move Azpilicueta over. So, that leaves him with two players for each side and that's the other issue in the squad as far as he's concerned: getting the depth to challenge in multiple competitions

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Was at Bournemouth Villa supporters BBQ today.
Mixed views on Terry.
For me I'm happy enough.
He's been there done it, won trophys.
Has that winners mentality.
If nothing else, that presence I think will be good for the players.
Also one of the lads met Redknapp on Friday night and he said the Blues offers him 100k a week, but turned them down.
He's signing tomorrow so the story goes, we shall see.

You'd better hope he will bring that presence/mentality because as a pure football player he is way way way past it

Wolves have basically signed up to be a vehicle for Jorge Mendes to get his clients into English football. He runs their transfers.

Would imagine the price for them is a lot higher, imagine Mendes is supplementing this fee and will profit if he gets a big move in England

Everton doing some decent business. Really like the Pickford and Keane signings. Only seen Klassen in the Europa league final against us so not reading too much in to that. Sandro has a lot of potential
The stories have started again about them wanting Rooney back, apparently the source being Jim White being told by Moshiri. If that happens, whilst I'd welcome Rooneys wage coming off our wage bill, nostalgia aside I don't get why they'd want him.

Used as a impact player Rooney could easily do a job for a lot of teams still, add to that his experience in the dressing room is a big plus for a side.

Meh, I'd argue he needs to improve to even be classed as an impact sub. So many times he came on for us this year and was just plain ineffective.
Get the experience he brings but for the cost involved I think Everton would be wasting their money
Who knows though, maybe a change of scenery and a return to Everton may get him out of a rut and have him winding back the years

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Funnily it is the Sandro Ramirez signing I am most excited about. He looks like the kind of player who the fans will love.
The Rooney rumours I have seen suggests that it is a loan with United paying a decent part of his wages.
Would stack up with Koeman's previous statement about him being out of our wage bracket.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
I think he's out of a lot of teams wage bracket to be honest
A loan would probably make sense, I'd imagine even if he was sold then we would end up having to round up his wage to £300k for the remaining 12 months of his current deal. Plus this way he couldn't play and score against us leaving me with egg on my face
MEN sayng Morata to be done by the end of this week as we fly to the states on Sunday. Jose will likely want his midfielder signed in time too

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
I like that Everton are doing business, but shows that you have to spend a lot of money to budge up a touch. Keane for £30m is bonkers money. They're gonna have to get Giroud and Sigurdsson before I think they really make a proper step ahead of the teams outside the top six.
However, the intent and money means people will see them as more legitimate as the window goes on, so it's good "PR", if the term works in this context.

I think the signings so far address the key issues that most fans thought we had to - better keeper, younger CB, creative CM and a hard working striker.

Hutton isn't great, but he does give it the 100 every game, big respect.
With De Laet coming back from injury and Bree also, could be time for Hutton to leave.

Latest Everton rumours are:
Rooney now joining on a free transfer, no mention of what wages and who's is paying?
Lukaku to United later this week
Giroud coming in as Lukaku replacement once Lacazette deal to Arsenal completed

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Apparently Everton paying £200k a week for him as they are saving on the transfer fee
Haven't heard anything about Lukaku, although I could see there being some truth in that. I wonder IF (big if) United do land Lukaku, what that would mean for Morata which on Monday was 72 hours from completion (apparently)
I'd have loved to have been a fly on the wall when Jose met Ed following his holiday. I know press have a habit of sensationalising things, but I can't see Jose not airing his frustrations

United also back in for Perisic according to Di Marzio. Woodward wants stringing up if he now goes out and spends more money on him than the 50m euro Inter set by end of Friday last week....apparently Inter have increased the fee they want to 55m euro

I remember that year well.
Woodward/Moyes (before the Fellaini buyout clause expired): We'll give you £23m for Fellaini and Baines
Kenwright: No thanks
Woodward/Moyes: £26m then?
Kenwright: No thanks
Woodward/Moyes (after the clause expired): Okay, here's £27m for just Fellaini
Kenwright: Thank you very much

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Aye, I can almost forgive him the Fellaini instance. It was his first summer conducting transfers. There's a learning curve in anything
But to now get caught out again is amateur. Of course, this is providing we go ahead and bow to their demands
I will say though in his defence, the guy is absolute genius at making the club money

I agree with this. Lukaku can be anywhere from anonymous to unplayable, and usually covers the full range each game.
He will spend a lot of time on the floor complaining, and not much time working hard. And then he'll suddenly pick up the ball, turn and run at the defence, and score a worldie

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
reports in Spain that Madrid have turned down 80m euro for Morata, so after meeting the price Madrid named they still decline it
They're obviously d!cking us around because we won't bow down to them and let them take De Gea from us or they're waiting for us to drop the ball and accept a swap deal. Just walk away and look elsewhere

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Lukaku has a lot of attributes that could make him into a Mourinho striker, but it's the ones he has as his main strengths that suit United for me. Direct, strong, decent pace, all round goalscorer.
Some of the finesse that he lacks will be made up for by the fact he is much better on the counter than Ibra and United need that to stop their slow approach game issues.

He has the attributes but not sure its his style to use them the way Mourinho wants. Or whether that would blunt other areas of his game.
