Speculation rife that PSG are willing to meet Neymar's release clause and he's agreed terms!
222m euros.
They could buy 4 Kyle Walkers for that!

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
We brought in young squad players last year - Martinez, Fletcher, Quina, Fernandes. It meant that we didn't improve the first team (immediately anyway) and we went backwards. The ones for the first team were really squad acquisitions, and whilst Ayew would have been first choice most of the year had he not got the bad injury, I would suspect any that remain will be on the bench at best next year.
Realistically, we've swapped Zabaleta for Arbeloa and Hart for Randolph/Adrian.
By the end of the week we could have swapped Arnautovic for Tore and Hernandez for Calleri.
That's not bad going.

Rumors that Liverpools deal for Andy Robertson will pretty much be a swap deal for Kevin Stewart. Would be a very good piece of business if that went through.

Be amazed and it would go against the entire strategy this summer to spend a large sum on a player past his prime.
Easy link because we have money, reality is the next forward to lead the line is already at the club. The striker we do sign is likely to be more of a squad player like Murphy at Newcastle.

Rumoured fee for Morata appears to be around £70m. Pretty scary for a bloke with 40 league goals who turns 25 in a few months...
Still need a LB, RB, and CM.

Matic effectively gone though. Chalobah gone. Leaves only Kante, Bakayoko (missing start of the year with injury) and Cesc - unless I am missing someone?

Interesting opinion from Mina Rzouki on the BBC report about Morata v Lukaku.

I think the most interesting thing is the change of striker types in both sides. I also think United need a Lukaku more than they need a Morata.

Think Lukaku is better but both managers would prefer a striker like Morata

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Not sure I agree on the latter point.
Looking at United's wastefulness and sometimes slow approach play, a clinical goalscorer like Lukaku who also runs channels at pace with power is a perfect option. Not sure their skill in getting to goal is a huge problem, so Morata being better in build and skill doesn't mean too much.

Sounds like Murphy is a goer. Not in love with the fee but a reliable goalscorer when we only have potential in the squad

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
So the Morata deal is expected to cost around £60m
funny that how £20-30m has just disappeared off the price when a different team has come in for him. Methinks Madrid may still be somewhat bitter over the whole De Gea incident

Apparently we are selling a 17 yo left back from our academy to Everton for £6m???!!
Need to confirm it so its not just rubbish, but If that IS the case, why on earth are we letting him go??!!

£6m for Gibson. Steve Walsh claiming he's one of the best English talents he's seen & demanded Everton took him. They're on a big recruitment drive for youngsters, so as it looks like he won't sign with us, it's either sell him now or lose him for nothing in a year.

Seems Barca have offered (or are preparing to offer) £72 million for Coutinho. No chance. The prices being paid lately will have the American owners rubbing their hands knowing they could probably get at least £100 million for him.
Think it will be another Suarez situation - I'll give you one more season then i'm going to Barca.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Imagine that's an attempt to keep Neymar at the club. Coutinho has been his best friend since they were 16 and considering a big motivation for Neymar's move is reportedly the Brazilian contingent at PSG, including close friend Dani Alves, it makes sense. No way Liverpool would sell at that price though.
He's just signed a new five year contract without a buy-out, he's the best player at the club, he's worth way more to Liverpool than £72 million, especially when you see the prices floated about for much less proven players.

I didn't think they had bid for him, I thought as he was on a Scholarship deal they couldn't do anything as Everton offered him a deal and it would go to a tribunal?
Either way, he's highly rated, sure. But we've seen so many highly players over the years, it wouldn't surprise me if he never made it, and if £6m is the fee i think that's good business for an untested 16 year old.

If I were the Liverpool board I would be tempted to say if you want him give us Suarez in exchange.

Based on last year's prices I could almost agree with you.....based on the crazy over inflated prices of this summer I think most would expect to see a higher amount needed to persuade the Liverpool board.

Because better players than Coutinho are going for inflated prices doesn't make him worth the same prices as them.
Take 72m and run.

Looks good on paper does the Hernandez signing at £16m, but can see why Leverkusen have sold, now he's nearing 30. Doubtful to receive the service he got during the Ferguson era, and he endured an 800 odd minute goal drought last season, so be interesting to see how he fares.

Not sure on this one either. No more than a good striker. At least Lukaku has age on his side.
The likes of Lewandowski, Aguero, Cavani would be worth £150m on these prices

Can't believe morata has gone to Chelsea for that amount - how United couldn't get a deal done is baffling.
