Not sure on this one either. No more than a good striker. At least Lukaku has age on his side.
The likes of Lewandowski, Aguero, Cavani would be worth £150m on these prices
They are both 24...

What I would consider top tier appearances.
Lukaku- 104 in 219
Morata- 58 in 188
As a pure goalscorer Lukaku is the far better option.

Three full backs who could defend competently and replacing them with three who can't.

75mil for a player ive never even seen play
i know leipzig did well last season but its his first season there. many a player have had a great year and never matched it. seems like bit of a gamble to me for that amount
other news, seems like de gea is staying, which is great for us. think united and real have got to the f*ck you stage. with the whole morata/de gea dealings

last year their full backs were old and lost there legs. undoubtedly they will be stronger this season purely through having more pace there. full backs get away with a lot with pace, only have to look at walker bellerin and Valencia as prime examples. none of whom can defend very well

It is a lot of money, but also worth noting that he had a great season the year before too, albeit in Switzerland.
Similar to Kante really.

I think they're buying him in the hope that he'll be transformative like Kante, but it's an awful lot of money. Alas, if they spend 130m on a good centre back and central midfielder then they'll have cured a lot of last year's problems. Still think Can would be better to keep than Henderson

It limited the chasing pack and taught Premier League clubs how to wheel and deal, or trick around, to make it less important

Be amazed if Pep ain't spending £300m by the end of August, to reinforce that central midfield, which is still a mess.

Probably would have done a better job finishing the chance Fellaini missed and of making the tackle that Lindelof gave the pen away for

Bit revisionist that.
Evra was stuck in a Manchester derby speaking no English beside silvestre mid season and had a poor debut.
Vidic came from Spartak during their off season and had a handful of games from January.
Lindelhof has been making mistakes in every pre season game.

Of course.
Have you watched any of the preseason games and if so what do you think Lindelhof against this calibre of opposition?

Who's writing him off? However has been worryingly poor so far in all elements of the game.
If you can't see the difference between pre season against this calibre of opposition and going into the middle of a premier league season it's time to stop watching football.

I'd hold fire my judgement until the season is underway, has he looked great? No. But I also appreciate settling into the CB role at a new club is one of the hardest to get right. He's also had to play with all three other CBs so not got to settle with one.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Lindelhof has shown glimpses of what he can bring, but otherwise has been rash and average at best.
I would hope these games can weed issues like this out ahead of the season, but he's putting himself under a lot of pressure already. Obviously I'm not going to write him off already though
Bailly and Jones look like my two to start against West Ham though based on what I've seen so far on tour
Martial's assist last night should hopefully put a stop to any more rumours linking him with a move away from the club

If Jose has said he'd settle for just one more player then Perisic shouldn't even been pursued.
Need a centre midfielder. I literally can't bare the thought of Fellaini starting games for us

Jaap Stam was poor at the start of his United career as was De Gea and both were superb.
I'm not sure Lindelof is good enough for United, but he does deserve a settling in period.

Stam got the run around from anelka in the charity shield but was actually quite good from the get go for United.
De gea was a 20 year old goalkeeper.
Plenty of time for lindelhof and pre season is all about fitness but having watched the games I'm worried he's a donkey.

Bizarre inconsistency in some of the prices this summer. Keita being quoted at £80m, Sigurdsson at £50m. Lukaku for £75m and Morata at £65m.
And then Chicharito moves for only £16m and Bernardeschi for £35m

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
The Chicharito fee is about right I'd say, had a great initial season away from Utd but certainly wasn't as great last season with 13 goals in 36 games and those very much coming in fits and starts (at one point he went 15 games without a goal). That's not though to say I don't think it's great business by West Ham, seems to be an impact striker when he arrives at a club.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
I think West Ham have done great business there. He was still nearly 1 in 2 in the league last year and considering how many of his appearances for United and Real were off the bench, his goals record there stands up too. It would be interesting to see his minutes per goal record over his career.
If he stays fit, I'd predict he'll score a minimum of 15 goals for them. £16m for that in todays markets is great value.
