Can't see passed Mikey destroying Broner rather easily. Bout is at light welterweight. I would much rather see Linares Garcia at lightweight.

Garcia against Linares would have been far more interesting a unification fight why didn't that fight come off?

As for the fight, I think it's quite interesting myself, but agree I'd rather see Garcia try and unify at lightweight... and it puts some distance between Garcia and lomo.

I'm really disappointed Garcia is moving to 140(is it a permanent switch?) already when there are some good fights at 135

Plenty think Easter Jr would be Mikey's stiffest test at lightweight so I'm really disappointed not to be seeing that one too

You would think Mikey could potentially destroy broners career here. Let's not forget though that Broner bullied mostsub lightwelter. At welter he could not impose himself on his opponents. The fact that Mikey is climbing up and broner is going to light welter may make this fight interesting?

It's a good fight no doubt about it would like to have seen Garcia fight Easter first that's all. Broner's best weight most people think is at 140

I don't think a Robert Easter fight was on the agenda at all; Linares and Lomachenko were the fights that were being touted.

What you talking about after Easter's last performance there were plenty of fans wanting to see Mikey fight him

Broner's a decent operator at 140 though it could be a good fight though I expect Garcia to be too good

Why wasn't the Linares fight made Hammer?

The fight against Comney exposed him to an extent.

I doubt any of them are too eager to fight each other, too much money to be made fighting in house away from each other.

Another quality fighter dragged into a catchweight. Garcia should be too good - he's the better fighter. Whether he's effective at 140, who knows?

While that moves Garcia vs Loma further away, Garcia vs Crawford would be just as mouth-watering.

Mikey always said 140 would be the maximum he'll ever fight at. It might just turn out to be his optimum weight. Could see him settling here for a few years then perhaps a move to welter to see out his career

Actually looking forward to this fight - broner is still undefeated below 140 - whether he actually makes weight is a different matter altogether as he looks pretty big in recent photos.

Can't really see past a Garcia win in this one - always really rated the kid and thought it was a shame he was inactive for so long. Hopefully he looks impressive and then goes after more high profile fights - if he looks good at 140 I'd definitely love to see him in with Crawford...

Yeah Mikey against Terence wouldn't need a lot of promotion would it that's real quality and a chance for Garcia to get revenge from the amateurs

Just checked but Easter Jr is booked with a fight against Shafikov on 30th June so I'm sure that's why he wasn't being touted.

Also if reports are to believed Lomachenko is close to agreeing a fight with Salido. Those fights can still happen, Mikey may be going up to 140 but he himself said after this fight was announced that he is a lightweight

I actually think this is an awesome fight. Broner hasn't reached his potential but you look at the guys he's lost against, Porter and Maidana, they are high volume guys with big power and naturally a lot bigger and stronger than Broner. It's also worth mentioning as well as being strong welterweights they are both very good fighters. Those that think he'll be wiped out as well garcia can't pop like those 2 and Broner showed guts in those fights.

Garcia is the obvious favourite but Broner is the larger guy with the bigger power. Also correct me if i'm wrong but Mikey has never been in with someone like Broner and more specifically a guy with hands as fast as Broners. Garcias best wins are against Lopez, Salido, Conception, Zlaticanin, burgos and Remillard all good fighters but aggressive ones who aren't known for their handspeed or boxing ability.

I love this fight think it'll be a great clash of styles will Garcia time Broner or will Broner be too quick!! Love it

Crawford is perhaps a bit to big for Garcia imo although he'll be competitive so I'd prefer him  to go back to 135 win or lose to go after Linares and Loma

I think Broner might have the fastest hands of anyone Garcia has yet faced. Broner has heart too

Good to see Garcia confirm he thinks he's best at lightweight at the moment(I agree) so that means this is just a one off for now and we'll see him have a run at lightweight where there are a few good fights

He is very technically sound as well

He also says that Mikey hits harder than Canelo so gonna take what he says with a pinch of salt....

Sure he hits like a mule but he's only had 2 fights above 130

Interested to see if his power is all that as Broner can pop himself and Garcia has gone down (although never really in trouble)

This is the interesting question about the fight has Mikey got elite power at 140

I think the clincher has got to be how seriously broner takes this fight. If he thinks he can lay back and feast on buffalo wings and maybe train a bit with a view to steamrollering Garcia the he might be in for a ruder awakening than his experience with maidana.

I think Broner's going to get in shape for this one it's ppv so he going to want to respect the promotion to maximise buys plus there are penalties in the contract

Also his ego will be saying to itself I'm still undefeated at or below 140 so this could fuel him I think he'll be right up for this one it's a really good fight and he knows a win would regenerate his career and some

Kell just about managed to get down from 154-160 to 147 in 10 mths. Broner has two months to go from 160 to 140!

Broner I think sees this as his defining fight to date so a loss here would surely end his dreams of ppv stardom

If Garcia wins next Saturday and Crawford beats Namibia's Julius Indongo next month then a fight against Crawford would be bigger for Mikey than going back down to 135 for a unification fight. Crawford against Garcia that would be a big fight atmosphere:

Not elite at 40 not elite at 47 what's he going to do?

He is unlikely to be elite at 147 as his natural trained weight is around 135-140. He walks around 170 due to wings and fries. He was dominant massively at the lower weight so I don't see why he could not do well at 140 on the proviso that he lives the life.

Who's he beaten at 140 or below? I mean who's he really beaten?

Back when he fought smaller guys, ponce de Leon, demarco, molina he overpowered them. Granted they are not really stand out names but he showed some glimmer of talent in those. Unfortunately his work ethic didn't quite allow him to stick around at the weight long enough to show us progression.

Broner's still a very good fighter and will win another title no question but why wasn't he aggressive more often in the fight? Looked much better when taking the fight to Garcia

I agree with that, I'd love Garcia to fight Crawford(if he beats Indongo) or Jorge Linares(if Garcia goes back down to 135lb). As Linares is fighting on 23rd September I think the Crawford fight is more likely
