Liam Williams must start at fullback against All Blacks, IMO

Liam Williams must start at 15 against the All Blacks, IMO, after his performance against the Chiefs. The only reason why Leigh Halfpenny is ahead of him is because Halfpenny is a great goal kicker. However, Liam Williams can create try scoring opportunities. Maybe put Halfpenny on the wing and Liam Williams at fullback.

If 1/2p is not at 15, then he is not in the squad. Far better wings around and his lack of versatility bars him from a utility back spot.

The other issue is kicking. Halfpenny is 11 from 11. Farrell is in the 60% range and whilst I think Farrell is equally good if not better; a guy on form is something else. Its a big call.

Williams is a superior player their is no question (albeit also superior in sometimes losing his head) but its certainly a little rash which some could say is healthy... others would say it shows a lack of faith and Gatland's insecurities.

Its a big call anyhow... slightly on the positive side but it has a lot of downside risk.

It's emerged that halfpenny's availability for the game was ensured until late in the week due to hia and had missed train until that point. Probably more to do with injury than wanting to go with williams. So we have potentially halfpenny and Warburton a little undercooked on the bench.

Halfpenny undercooked? He played last Saturday like most of the rest of the test team didn't he? 1 week between games. Weren't people complaining that those who played midweek (Liam Williams, Daly, etc.) wouldn't have enough rest?

Undercooked in the sense he's missed training and that was he reason he's been dropped to the bench.

Don't like Halfpenny as a bench option. You have Farrell or Sexton as kickers. Like the positive attacking pick of Williams. He was Wales' best attacking back in the last series in New Zealand.

Good on Gatland not going for North either. I think that's a very useful back three for the Lions.
