Jordan Spieth did his best to keep this interesting with a will he, won't he balls it up.  Matt Kuchar, he of recent discussion over his major potential, could only keep pace.  They finished 1-2 at the top of the leaderboard that had seven other Fantasy League picks in the top 10.  Beninho, Eyetoldyouso, and TheCleaver had that combo and another scoring pick.  Beninho's was sixth placed Matthew Southgate while TheCleaver added Rafa Cabrera Bello who finished fourth.  Eyetoldyouso's was Henrik Stenson who finished 11th but with Low Amateur Alfie Plant added in that was enough to create separation between the three of them.  AlciG, Owen10ozzy, SetupDetermines, and WireTapper all had four scoring picks but with Spieth they were never competitive.  Davie, GPB, Kwinigolfer, and SirBenson all had three scoring picks and all except Kwini had Spieth in their selections.  LadyPutt, Raycastleunited, and Super_Realist all had two scoring picks but again no Spieth.  Be_the_Ball, I'm Never Wrong, Pedro, and Sand all had just the one scoring pick; I'm Never Wrong and Pedro both had Spieth.

AlciG's Ha0tong Li set the clubhouse lead after a round of 63 and he must have been hoping, and Wishing, and praying that Spieth and Kuchar kept coming back towards him but he had to settle for low round honours and third place.

The race for Low Amateur was won on Friday but Alfie Plant needed to finish to take the Silver Medal and generate Low Amateur points for Eyetoldyouso, I'm Never Wrong, Kwinigolfer, LadyPutt, and Owen10ozzy.

The Open Championship returns to Royal Birkdale for the first time since 2008 when Padraig Harrington retained the title he first won at Carnoustie.  Henrik Stenson is the defending champion having provided a masterclass at Royal Troon last year.  Stenson along with former champion Phil Mickelson dominated the field last year.

Other former winners in the field include Stewart Cink, Darren Clarke, John Daly, David Duval, Ernie Els, Todd Hamilton, Zach Johnson, Paul Lawrie, Tom Lehman, Sandy Lyle, Rory McIlroy, Mark O'Meara, and Louis Oosthuizen.

There are five amateurs in the field, identified by (am) after their name, so we will have a separate pick for Low Amateur. The Low Amateur pick does not have to be one of your Cat C picks unless you so desire.  30 points will be on offer for correctly picking the Low Amateur after four rounds; if no amateurs make the cut then no points will be awarded.

There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one.  There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 10 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.
Pick 1 amateur identified by (am) after their name.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligible for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply or PM them to me.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament.  However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, and Matt Kuchar all posted 65s for their opening round and the lead of the Open Championship.  Late finishers Paul Casey and Charl Schwartzel both shot 66 to tie up the final spots in the Top 5 Low Round scores.  Their late finished bumped a number of picks who shot 67 out of the Top 5.  Spieth and Kuchar were relatively popular picks featuring in eight and five Fantasy League selections respectively; three Fantasy Leaguers, Beninho, Eyetoldyouso, and TheCleaver had both Spieth and Kuchar.  Davie and Raycastleunited had one of Spieth/Kuchar and had Casey too.  GPB, I'm Never Wrong, Pedro, SirBenson, and WireTapper also selected one of Spieth/Kuchar.  AlciG, LadyPutt, and Owen10ozzy all had Casey.

In the race for Low Amateur Alfie Plant has set the place with an opening 71.  His closest challenger is Connor Syme who shot 73.  All of the amateurs have been picked so there is a chance someone will take the Low Amateur points on offer providing an amateur makes the cut.

The weather made it difficult for the players in the second round but a few managed to break par.  Zach Johnson was one of those few and his round of 66 was the best by two strokes.  GPB, Owen10ozzy, and SetupDetermines were the beneficiaries of his fine play.  

The cut line moved out to +5 allowing Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood to sneak in for the weekend and that meant every Fantasy Leaguer kept the full set in Category A.  Four Fantasy Leaguers came close to keeping the full set with eight picks.  LadyPutt and Sand almost made it nine from nine but Padraig Harrington came up one short.  AlciG and I'm Never Wrong's picks missed the mark by some margin; I'm Never Wrong was the only Fantasy Leaguer to keep the full set in Category C.  Beninho, Kwinigolfer, Owen10ozzy, Raycastleunited, SetupDetermines, SirBenson, and WireTapper all have seven picks left; Owen, Setup, and Wire also earned two cut bonuses.  Be_the_Ball, Davie, GPB, Pedro, Super_Realist, and TheCleaver all have six picks left while Eyetoldyouso has just five picks left.

The race for Low Amateur is done.  Alfie Plant set the foundations with an opening 71 and followed it up with a 73 to make the cut by one stroke.  His closest challenger was Connor Syme who finished four shots outside the cut line.  Eyetoldyouso, I'm Never Wrong, Kwinigolfer, LadyPutt, and Owen10ozzy will gain the bonus points for correctly picking the Low Amateur after the final round.

Conditions were more conduicive to good scoring and Branden Grace took full advantage.  He shot 62 and set a new scoring record for major championships in the process.  Two Fantasy Leaguers, AlciG and Kwinigolfer, had Grace in their selections.  Rounds of 66 were needed to make the Top 10 Low Rounds and eight other picks did just that.  Kwinigolfer had three other picks score.  Eyetoldyouso, SirBenson, Super_Realist, and WireTapper all had three scoring picks.  AlciG, Beninho, GPB, LadyPutt, Pedro, Raycastleunited, and TheCleaver all had two scoring picks.  Davie, I'm Never Wrong, and Owen10ozzy rounded out the scoring with one scoring pick each.

Jordan Spieth did his best to keep this interesting with a will he, won't he balls it up.  Matt Kuchar, he of recent discussion over his major potential, could only keep pace.  They finished 1-2 at the top of the leaderboard that had seven other Fantasy League picks in the top 10.  Beninho, Eyetoldyouso, and TheCleaver had that combo and another scoring pick.  Beninho's was sixth placed Matthew Southgate while TheCleaver added Rafa Cabrera Bello who finished fourth.  Eyetoldyouso's was Henrik Stenson who finished 11th but with Low Amateur Alfie Plant added in that was enough to create separation between the three of them.  AlciG, Owen10ozzy, SetupDetermines, and WireTapper all had four scoring picks but with Spieth they were never competitive.  Davie, GPB, Kwinigolfer, and SirBenson all had three scoring picks and all except Kwini had Spieth in their selections.  LadyPutt, Raycastleunited, and Super_Realist all had two scoring picks but again no Spieth.  Be_the_Ball, I'm Never Wrong, Pedro, and Sand all had just the one scoring pick; I'm Never Wrong and Pedro both had Spieth.

AlciG's Ha0tong Li set the clubhouse lead after a round of 63 and he must have been hoping, and Wishing, and praying that Spieth and Kuchar kept coming back towards him but he had to settle for low round honours and third place.

The race for Low Amateur was won on Friday but Alfie Plant needed to finish to take the Silver Medal and generate Low Amateur points for Eyetoldyouso, I'm Never Wrong, Kwinigolfer, LadyPutt, and Owen10ozzy.
