In the first ODI....India playing 3 spinners + Pandya + Bumrah bat first at Chennai on a pitch that will turn
5 down for very little and then Pandya plays a scorching 83...and Dhoni does an 80 odd to get India to a fabulous recovery total of 281

we will see how Aus handle Indian spinners

and although it wasn't a bad deal for Aussies to be given 164 to chase in 21 overs......less than 8RPO

they were comprehensively annihilated

Pandya should be easily the MoM.....all the Indian bowlers bowled well
Maxwell was hit and miss and got some runs
and I (as well as msp) will start wondering why when starved for allrounders does Aus not give Faulkner a go in tests also.....much better than the ones they keep trying

from the read of CI commentary it seems Indians dropped no less than half dozen catches

Hilton Cartwright is awful

Kuldeep Yadav takes a hatrick as India go 2-0 up

Bowling was a mere plug-in / stop gap function in the Dhoni era....and not a tool to win has changed

India is picking penetrative 5 bowlers.....and using them to bowl out sides and win and the composition being
--2 writs spinners including one chinaman who is clever and bowls with lot of control and variation
--Bumrah the 90mph+ who is most consistent yorker bowler in the limited over format
--Bhuvi ...who can swing at 135-140kph.....only Anderson is a better swing bowler at that pace
--Pandya....although the 5th bowler.....he has so many variation....ranging from 120-144kph in speed and with very effective usage of fast bouncers

I sad it long time back and many times....Dhoni's formula was to use line length/ part time spinners to minimize the total...and use only the power of batting to overhaul

Indore is a flat track and Aus needed 330ish....to challenge India....they looked like getting there at 220-1 but fell short by 40odd

Kohli as a captain uses his bowlers well and is always at the opposition and breaks collapses the opposition invariably at some point during the inning.......

Rohit was batting with ridiculous ease.....he is one of the best players of the old fashioned Hook shot ( not pull)
India has a unique problem in the form of 4 really world class ODI openers:
Rohit
Dhawan
Rahul
Rahane

and none of them is deemed good to bat at No.4 or 5

Nice " problem" to have...

a 4-1 win over strong Aussies is a good show by India.

my thoughts from the series¨

1) Ind has 4 solid openers 4 2 opening slots.They should be willing to play them in the middle order...but they are not

2) at the same time Jadhav and Pandey should be locked in......not need to tinker and drop them from the squad...they are the best we've got as inning builders cum finishers in the country and should be persisted with until the 2019 world cup

3) Pandya should not bat too high i.e No.4 is too high for him....his best place is 6 ,7 or 8 for he is the only one who can come in and score at 200% SR

4) So. No 4 between Pandey, Jadhav and one of the two openers who is not opening
Nos. 5& 6 between Pandey , Jadhav and Dhoni
and no. 6 and 7 between Pandya and dhoni

4) Spinners...it' quite clear......Kohli has after the CT lost faith in Ashwin and Jadeja as limited over spinners....although I think Jadeja has more to offer as a package then Chahal and Akshar

for the lack of dedicated thread...worth mentioning here
a fantastic test match between Pak and Lanka resulted in a narrow win on D5 for Lanka
Pak crumbled for 110 chasing 130 odd

First Lanka let them get awy to a lead when a Lanka could have had a lead of 100 odd
and then pitch started turning square on D4&D5 and both teams crumbled to spin...Pak just a bit more badly

These teams have produced some fantastic matches in UAE....good for Lankan confidence after the mauling they had at the hand of India
