Paris on Six Nations Day - Advice & Tips
Hi All,
it’s been a very long time since I’ve posted. This year I’ve been lucky enough to get France v Ireland tickets for Xmas from my other half.
Just wanted to know your fans tips for Paris on Six Nations day, bars/streets for the best atmosphere, where supporters hang out & travel info etc.
My Aunt & Uncle never been to a game, there tagging along also. I wanted to give them the full expiernce. All advice and tips are greatly appreciated.

My advise is to hang out in Châtelet Les Halles area.
2 reasons :
- it is 10-15 mins away from Stade de France by RER (2 stops)
- it is rather lively as well. Around Les Halles you have plenty of bars and pubs (sous-bock pub is an ok rugby pub where I usually meet folks before heading to the game. Otherwise you have a few Irish-like pubs like Quigleys point). You can have food any time during the day (for instance in typical French brasserie like the Pied de Cochon) and you can also wander in Paris oldest streets like rue Montorgueil who have plenty of shops and cafes to offer.

Tips for the stadium:
- you will ONLY be allowed in through the gate specified on your ticket, unlike in many other stadia
- you will be searched more thoroughly than in most other stadia
- they only serve alcohol free lager
- most of the loos are squatters
- the queues for the trains at the end are huge, but they move quickly
- make sure you buy the right ticket. Not all tickets work on all routes
I would agree with the recommendation of Chatelet-Les Halles as a good place to hang out; basically you want to be away from the stadium and the main stations to avoid the crowds and rip off prices.

Yup. And it’s been like that for over a decade.

Gentlemen, in your expierience, how long before the game should you be at the stadium? Also, if you are leaving Châtelet Les Halles area, is the metro extra busy. What time should you allow to travel to stadium? Again, thanks in advance for the advice!

Suggest you show up latest 30 mins before kick off so leave 1 hour before to allow some time to have a (proper) drink just outside the stadium. RER might be busier but not much than normal and there is a train every 5 minutes (note you can also take line D northbound as well as B), walk in a park compared to the train to Twickenham
