The Culture Cup 2018 - Results thread
First topic message reminder :
Round one has come and gone, ladies and gentlemen, which is fitting what with Valentine's Day being yesterday and so many of you likely to have thrown back the covers and opened your legs for a carefree tryst with that man you think will treat you right.
One of the OGs, Mr rick_dagless, gets off to a flying start and receives the maximum 12 points for his choice of Homer and Marge Simpson. A whole 10 votes, enough to leave the yellow pair two clear of the pack. Beer gets second, whilst VDT secures a one more vote on this last day and takes joint third with Hero. We must all take the time to appreciate that only one pick received 0 votes; congratulations SecretFly!
Scoring in the Eurovision fashion (except allowing ties) sees the table looking thusly:
1. Dagless - 12
2. Beer - 10
3. Hero - 8
3. VDT - 8
5. Chequered Jersey 6
5. Samo - 6
5. Compelling and Rich - 6
8. TLD - 3
8. Galted - 3
8. Dolphin - 3
11. Secret Fly - 0

11. Jules - 0
11. dancingweeman - 0
11. nadeem - 0

It's a fraud.
How can you be considered culturally superior if you can't have your picks?

Then you wouldn't have got Band of Brothers and may not have got anywhere near the amount of points. The system protects the whole, in the traditions of gentlemanly conduct that runs through the Culture Cup.

Your winner of Round Five is:
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. And that was mine, notches, cos you all wanted it so I chose me instead of working out which one of you deserved it (as well as having got 0 points last time out, so justifiably allowed)
Me - Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy - 12 points
VDT - The Book of Mormon - 10 points
Nadeem - Trainspotting - 10 points
Dagless - Light Fantastic - Terry Pratchett - 7 points
Fernando - Where’s Wally - 7 points
Compelling and Rich - The Bible - 5 points
Hero - The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4 - Sue Townsend - 4 points
Superfly - One Fine Day in the Middle of the Night - Christopher Brookmyre - 4 points
Marky - The Timewaster Letters by Robin Cooper - 4 points
Samo - Screenburn - Charlie Brooker - 4 points
Dancingweeman - I, Partridge - 4 points

I thought I Partridge was my choice and so didn't vote for it and voted for my own pick of One Fine Day in the Middle of the Night.
I'm off outside for a bracing w*nk.

7 - Nadeem - Gary Coleman - Different Strokes
6 - Dagless - Millie Bobby Brown - Stranger Things
5 - Samo - Dakota Fanning
5 - Dancingweeman - Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin off of Stranger Things)
5 - Fernando - Frankie Muniz

Re: The Culture Cup 2018 - Results thread
I don't think I'm taking it seriously enough. Going for some things that I find personally funny but which others might not.
That helps explain why I'm languishing down near the foot of the table. However I'm quite proud of my performance given that my taste for entertainment is probably a decade or three out. I find most of the more contemporary stuff often puerile, uninteresting and self conceited.
Need to loosen up a bit but I fear it is now a little too late.

We are picks from Shah and Trebs short, whilst Jules is being obstinate. I'm allowing Galted's to go in verbatim, but unsure whether I will allow Jules's pick of "none" as he hasn't entered into the spirit of the competition.
