Has Tony Mowbary lost it?
First topic message reminder :
Signing player's like Kris Boyd, Barry Robson and Scott MacDonald is this Mowbary guy for real? Where did they finish last season? Somewhere down near the bottom of the champ anyway, he should be sacked and they should bring back Alfonso Alves as manager. Discuss.

Re: Has Tony Mowbary lost it?
The thing is he didn't need to build a team at Celtic they already had a team of proven winners and to get rid of their better players and bring players such as Fortune, Rasmussen etc showed just how little he knew about Celtic. Don't get me wrong he is a great manager but he just got everything wrong at Celtic.
Carroll has been a flop so far, if you are paying 35million for a player you expect to make an instant impact then he was way off the mark.

Aberdeen
That is easy with hindsight, but alot of managers like to make their own mark, I think this is what Mowbray wanted to do!
Soldier - you say you live in liverpool, personally I don't believe you!

Kenny bought Carroll for his potential rather than anything else, obviously if a player isnt fully fit they aren't going to do that well straight away. Hopefully next season you will see a big difference in him.AberdeenSteve wrote:Carroll has been a flop so far, if you are paying 35million for a player you expect to make an instant impact then he was way off the mark.

Not sure you can spend £35 million on someone for 'potential' kinda think at that price you want results straight away!

1) January transfers are always higher than summer transfers
2) Man City's spending spree has inflated prices even further
3) FA/Premier Leagues new rules state that every club has to have 8 home grown players in its first team squad which is why the best young players are so in demand

Despite what you might believe, Carrol IS Liverpool's RECORD signing, now unless you are Man City, you cannot afford to pay that amount of money for someone for their potential.
yes the price is inflated, yes City have loads of money, but answer honestly, would you be happy if Carrol was loaned out to a Championship club for a season, to unlock his full potential, or would you not want him playing every week?

You must have done a very serious crime for that punishment
Only been to Anfield once (utd fan here), was my best mate’s 30th so we all chipped in to take him to Anfield to watch them v Fulham, Utd v City was on in the pub before the game and I had to very quietly cheer as Utd won in fear of a lynching outside.

Wise move haha. Did you got to a pub by the ground or in Liverpool? If so which one?

Re: Has Tony Mowbary lost it?
What are you talking about. Why would Carroll be loaned out anywhere or not playing regulary. He is in the first team not the reserves and if he is fit will be starting every game. Loaned out what a jokeJDandfries wrote:Braveheart

I didn't know the not offering of sweets was deemed as grooming? You seem to know alot about this subject

Right - I cant believe I am having to do this......
I said he is a £35m player and should make an immediate impact at that price.
You said he was bought for potential, thus suggesting you are not expecting him to make an immediate impact....
So if that is teh case, and as you said he 'was bought for potential more than anything' would you be happy if he was loaned out!!
You have answred that clearly, he is your record signing and must play!

Have to say (through gritted teeth) that even for a game v Fulham, the atmosphere at the place was great (though winning 4-0 helped!)
