Well, good luck to Symons. Will hopefully complement Horwell and Merrick well

Steve Diamond doesn't mind putting difficult characters back in the straight and narrow. He rescued Cips career and has James O'Connor on the books already. Sale aren't an affluent club so will need their sponsors on side. Be a strong down in wages as well because Sale need front five reinforcements first and as I said aren't affluent.

Glasgow signs USA international Number 8 David Tameilau - good thing too - they need a serious ball carrier very badly.

Diamond never seems to sign many forward as much as we all go on about the need.

Great signing, he's a very good player. Certainly a step up on Paice Nick.

That's certainly the rumour going round. Be interesting to see what he brings to the table because some of his tactics with Fiji 7s were out of the box genius, the whole let's avoid breakdowns because we aren't very good of them but we are at offloading made them nigh on unstoppable at the Olympics.
Given an a big picture role alongside a hands on head coach in Gustard that might work very well.

Exactly Welly. We had apparently signed him and he just never showed. Still don't know the full story on that one. Probably never will.

yeh Paice struggled a bit last season, best days long behind him.
Matu and Faingaa are decent options for us. still like a few more players in, mainly backs, to make sure we can fend off the challenge from Ealing.

A really genuinely nice bloke too. Sad to see him go and i'd expect with more regular game time his arrows will be a little more accurate, but you can't fault him elsewhere. He'll definitely have a few players worried in the Championship as he's one of the biggest hitting tacklers around.

Not sure Paice was as bad as people think. Accurate in the set-piece and a willing carrier.
Anyway, pleased with Matu'u. Would say a back or two with a bit of spark would be most welcome as you say, but have hopes for Parton and Loader coming through, with the potential of Nalaga possibly to come back into the mix. Obviously would never say no to a big carrying Number 8, unless the hope is that Rogerson can fill that role.

Personally just find it hard to be too critical of him. We had one of the best line-outs in the league and he at least showed a level of commitment that was admirable. A good and underrated ball carrier...
Anyway, not sure about the Glasgow 8 they have signed. For a big lump his various youtube videos aren't particularly impressive.

So Olding to Brive - been rumoured he got fed up with Sale dithering.
Jeremy Davidson old Ulster man is the coach there
Also rumoured Jackson signed a contract, but Olding only had a verbal commitment which also made him nervous

Rumours in France that Huw Jones and Robbie Henshaw are being looked at as replacements for Nonu.
Can't see the latter happening, but H Jones has not been a big hit at Scotstoun so far.

Probably a better option going to france for a year or two. Less media pressure and a lower level to help him up to speed. He should look good if he still has the footwork and acceleration he used to.

Zero chance of Henshaw leaving Ireland before the World Cup, and not likely after

Mostert and Dreyer confirmed today for Glaws. Particularly the former is an outstanding signing and one of the best lineout jumpers in the game.
The Dreyer signing ends any rumour about JCW joining.

I believe PDJ is doing what Vickery can't bring himself to do...
Top 6 has to be a minimum requirement, but breaking into the top 4 will be difficult even with the players we've signed. All of the top 4 will arguably have stronger squads next season.

As it stands, Falcons won't.
Williams and Logo will improve us but we've lost Latu, Hogg, Socino, Vickers, Olmstead, DTH (never really played) and possibly Mermoz and Dave Wilson.
I think we'll be happy with top 6.

Re: Silly Season Transfer Rumours 17/18
Have Wasps recruited well?
Shields has come in for Haskell but with Thompson gone, Johnson's future unknown and Willis out long term injured only squad filling from the Championship could backfire massively.
Tight five is still average with Mathews a downgrade in Symons. Brookes in for Moore does nothing to help a weak scrum.
In the backline Cips is gone and replaced by a big money import that doesn't know the league and Eastmond has been replaced by Bedford's captain who has no AP experience at 28.
Looks like they've put their money and eggs in two big Kiwi baskets to me.

Wasps recruitment is quite bizarre, some big name players and 7 or 8 untested championship players.
I've heard they've got a few more to come in of better quality though, but it looks like a gamble.

Latu - We have quality back row options, with Guy Graham, Uzowke etc coming through. Latu was on the wane. Connor Collett added also
Hogg - Need a replacement
Socino - Wiliams has replaced, but we also have a fit again Penny and Wilson coming through, plus Stevenson
Vickers - Can be replaced by someone who can actually scrummage
Olmstead - Would not have released
DTH - No loss what so ever, Costly and we have Kibirige and Radwan both flying now.
Mermoz- See DTH

It's experience and depth that we're going to miss GF, we have very little of it. You could argue that our best XV might actually be slightly improved but how often through the season do you get to put that XV out?
I'm a little worried going into the new season if I'm honest.

Re: Silly Season Transfer Rumours 17/18
I agree to a certain extent. But we now have players with vast amounts of premiership experience, who can assume the mantle of the "experienced guys" like Wilson, Welch, Green, Robinson, Tait, Young, Flood.
Even the likes of Hammersley has experience now. And we have quality in the likes of Cooper, and Mulipola coming in etc.
I think we'll miss Hogg as he's just a genuinely classy operator at 8.
Time to bring through some of these much vaunted academy "prospects" and give them a go.
I don't expect us to be top 4 next season, but then I didn't this season.
My biggest concern of every thing is the lack of attack coming from the 10/12 access with out JPS. Matavesi had a great season but there was a glaring lack of inside breaks coming from his area , whereas JPS was a constant threat there.
That lack, means teams can focus on stopping our wings.

Currently considering offers but looking like a return to League with Warrington.

That's several times he has tinkered with the idea of a return to League.
Would be a shame for him to give up on Union - Injury has been a big issue for him and lack of gametime.
Certainly had a lot of potential.

I don't recall his size ever being a problem. His footwork and footballing skills more than made up for it. His issues have been due to poor tackle technique and number of injuries, am I right in thinking it's a long term hamstring issue?

So it appears RJVR isn't joining Glaws after all. It looks like he was stalling on a contract and we moved our sights to Cips instead. Given we have 36, Atkinson and Williams who can play 12, it was never an area that really needed strengthening, and you could argue a ball playing 12 will work better with Cips anyway.

Not helped by the rugby league tendency to put a high shoulder in. If he tackled low and hard the he'd be fine.
I agree Welly the RVJR to Glaws rumours never seemed that plausible given what Glaws need and what they already have.
