Why not Ulster? They’ve let go of a fly-half where as Munster are just stocked up with average ones.

I presume Carberry fancied playing behind the Munster pack more than the Ulster one. Will a Munster flyhalf head north?

I imagine it'll be two of the three combining with Thomas Young. Need an openside with the way Wasps play.

I suspect that would depend on the future of Attwood. His loan deal is done so you'd assume he'd return to Bath and join Stooke, Charteris and Ewels which is a good combination in options.

Saints do need a fullback with Foden gone. Doubt they've got funds for Folau.

Leinster sign Joe Tomane from Montpelier(?)
Strange signing, I'd have thought there was enough depth in the centres and the potential to bring through some of the academy lads.

Experienced player that won't disappear on international duty. Can play centre and wing. Isa Nacewa covered a lot of positions for the entire season. Tomane has a good record with try scoring. I think a few teams would have liked to be able to add him to their squad.

Not confirmed on Basham.
More a case of the Rugby pass writer trying to put 2 and 2 together with no definitive inside knowledge. Good chance of being right, but wouldn't bet the house on it.

Yep and just as that is confirmed Wasps also confirm the signing of Brookes. That's a double smack in the mouth for Wasps fans then...

Certainly is if he plays, or more to the point doesn't play like he has for Saints this last year or so. Having said that, the last few times I saw him play he did improve and looked to be getting back to his old self, ball in hand anyway.

Brookes was fantastic for Falcons (for around 50mins a game anyway). He was in great shape and seemed genuinely up for it, it's off that he's struggled at every other club. I don't know if he needs to be a big fish or perhaps managed in a particular way to get the best out of him.

I think the industrious pack let him get away with being a one in three player (takes part in one in every three phases). At a Saints team in need of players to stand up and be counted his work rate was found dead wanting and at Tigers when we had a decent pack his workrate was simply miles behind the likes of Cole and Castro. Plus his scrummaging has always been open to exploitation by technically strong looseheads. His ball carrying was always his big strength and Falcons were probably the best club at giving him a platform to use that.

His work rate was excellent at Falcons, as was his scrummaging. He was never such a huge ball carrier though, not with us anyway. A team like Falcons (especially at the time) cannot afford to carry a player and we didn't with Brookes. You don't work your way through the Saxons into the England 23 by being lazy and having a low work rate.

I presume that Adam Jones will probably step into that Forwards/Scrum Coaching role now.

Baffles me that Ulster haven't made a move for him especially now given they will have maybe 3 options available to start the season at centre

Couldn't see him moving to Ireland anyway.
He's EQP now which doesn't mean much for his international chances, but it does mean he is worth even more as a player in the Premiership.

Contepomi to Leinster from Argentina XV/Jaguares as backs coach.
The Jaguares is essentially the Argentina national team and they didn’t look too good in the backs in the recent summer series. Any worries Leinster fans?

Same players different coaches isn't it, which I imagine is probably the issue.

It has the look of Felipe looking to build back up his CV. He was talking about Lancaster in the interviews and there will be exposure to Schmidt, Farrell and Easterby through the national coaching ticket interactions.
Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up doing a bit of a post-grad while over here as well cos he got his medical qualification when he was playing here before.
He was a mercurial sort of player and hopefully gives expanded options to players in his approach (time will tell). Lancaster will continue with his calm in chaos routine and Cullen will try and keep the hardened edge in the pack. It will be an interesting dynamic (to think the Sexton rein effectively began when Felipe blew out his knee in that '09 semi final).

Re: Silly Season Transfer Rumours 17/18
Contepomi might prove an addition to the coaching unit and then again, it might be the coaching position where he proves he's not good enough for this Leinster side, with all their vaunted ambitions to stay close to the top. So it's a risk for Contepomi as Leinster have exacting standards (Mr O'Connor we're looking at you )..and of course a risk for Leinster.
The coach I'll be interested in keeping tabs on is the coach that left, Girvan Dempsey. Going by his coaching career to date, it might seem that he is one of the less personally ambitious coaches out there - forever the hidden man operating behind the coaching 'stars'. And perhaps that's what has finally prompted him to move to Bath. He might have realised that all his good work was potentially getting clouded out by the heaps of praise being put on Lancaster's shoulders for the rejuvenation of Leinster.
I'd probably simply think that Leinster needed a few years to suck up the new regimes both at Pro12/14 level and at European Levels. They worked through their processes, worked out their coaches and players and steadily brought the ship back to full speed through the few years. Lancaster has played his part but maybe his part is oversold a tad given that Leinster didn't exactly fall asunder in their 'down' period, even when he wasn't there.
So I'll be watching Girvan Dempsey to see how much of Leinster attack was him and how much was Lancaster. It might prove painful watching if it's the former given we have Bath in the European pool

It will give plenty of extra intrigue to the pool games between the two sides.
