I'd be amazed if they managed to pull that one off. Wasps will be looking to retain him with the rumours that they are ditching Willie le Roux. I know Sarries play hard and fast with the salary cap but even by their standards squeezing him in would be well done.

Sam I agree with you but Ugo Monye seemed pretty sure the rumour had legs

Edit: he also mentioned sarries wanted to sign him as a 13 not a back 3

They'd have to pay a fee to Wasps too which would affect the cap too

Bosch will be off.

Imagine him and someone else like Day maybe would cover the cap.

Burger is out of contract at the end of the season.

Wasn't Strettle a 1 year deal?

Sarries need to replace Burger with a real fetcher of an openside. Clark was signed as that option but his injury issues (no sympathy whatsoever) have meant his impact has been limited. Jacques Burger was immense for Sarries and so was Fraser. I can't see them battering the big Irish provinces into submission they need one of those subtle breakdown technicians to take the fight to the Irish.

Lozowski has looked sharp for Sarries offering pace at 13. What Daley might offer playing that role is a scary thought.

Nathan Hughes to Bristol is sounding more and more like a done deal.

There were rumours early in the season of Luatau going back to NZ. That would clear a marquee spot for Brizz, not that money's exactly an issue for them.

The rumour is gathering momentum. Our defence is not improving and there's an experienced defence coach sat in the stands watching the game most weeks. Makes sense to bring him in a consultancy role.

I give it 3 days before he's trying to oust Geordan Murphy

That was after the first game of the season. We're heading into hysteria now.

If you look at our coaches the only one with any real experience is the forwards coach Bakewell and he's got his hands full. Brett Deacon has stepped up from coaching the academy but is struggling to plug the holes in our defence. Murphy is trying to completely rebuild our attacking and tactical play (a herculean task mid season). Only Stankovitch the scrum coach is really flying high. An experienced head on a consultancy basis is not a bad idea, particularly one who is experienced in marshalling a defence.

Rumour is he will be a DOR.

I don't mind the move, Bath seemed to be fine till the Burgess mess, which the RFU helped to fuel.

End of the day which 10 will be Tigers bring in that is better than Ford? Might as well have someone with coaching experience especially in defence and who knows the likes of Denton, Ford and Eastmond well. Not many better options currently about.

Cooper-Woolley ---> Sale

Rumoured a done deal and apparently £300k a season with Diamond finally investing in tight 5 it seems. A really good signing for Sale if true, I rate Cooper-Woolley highly.

Simon McIntyre and Matt Mullan also rumoured to be on the move. McIntyre can be a wrecking ball in the loose, I'd be interested to see what a good scrum coach could make of him.

Always forget that cheers Sam!

Even with the sizable contracts luring the likes of Madigan, Siale Piutau and Thacker there I can't imagine Bristol are up to the cap though. There must be big money in the first XV but not a lot of big contracts behind it.

McIntyre is 27, wouldn't be a bad punt if Stanko likes the look of him. A little more depth in the front row would be no bad thing.

The marquee thing was to stop the bigger clubs using their resources to pillage the best English talent from the club's that had nurtured them through. Makes sense really.

Diamond has been trying to find quality props in unlikely places for a while. It's time he opened up the cheque book and got one. He tried Longbottom from Sarries the other year but he was pretty much permanently injured. Cooper-Woolley would be a great addition for Sale.

Fissler has become less reliable as he's got better known but The RP are printing it front page...

Gustard hasn't even put his mark on the Quins squad yet but they forked out serious cash to get rid of the old staff so if Tigers offered good money back would they bite?

Could Quins have a replacement lined up from the NZ RFU connection?

It's one that I don't know what to make of but I'd take Gustard at Tigers in a heartbeat.

Simon Cohen has described it as the headline with the least foundation on Twitter which pretty much rules it out. Gustard would have been a popular choice should the board have removed MOC in the summer like the majority of fans believed was required.

Understandable. I suspect it's all 2+2=5 though. Tigers board known to be considering an experienced appointment under pressure from the fans and Gustard not moving to the area and enduring long commutes to the Quins training ground.

Sounds like Tigers have offered Quins big money which they might consider but a move won't be settled on unless a replacement is lined up.

Gustard and Geordie shared a house back in the day and are known to get on well so they could make a good pairing as DOR and head coach.

Tigers need Gustard for his defence coaching as much as his fledgling DOR capabilities.

Beats the English journeyman we currently over play given his severely lacking abilities. If this is an inexpensive cover signing as we promote Eastmond to starting 12 and jettison Joe Ford then so be it. Hardwick and Reid as cover at 10 and 12 is fine. Not impressive but fine. If we can acquire a better squad centre than Owen and use Toomua's marquee for a big ball carrying brute up front then that's fine.

Our priorities have been a little too flowing backs moves focussed in recent years. A little less spent there and a little bit more spent between 1 and 8 is required.

It just gets a little tiring that we keep bringing in pretty average players to serve as squad fillers. Galling to see Balmain playing so well when we have had some really average prop imports in the last two seasons. Admittedly not a journeyman, but TPN has been a poor investment, especially as we lost Thacker.

Maybe Reid is decent, but surely no more if Leinster are happy to see him go.

Noel Reid is a very good player and I wouldn't thumb my nose at him (not saying that anyone is) because there's a huge amount of competition at every level and in every position at Leinster.

I know that Leinster are much better than us with many better players than we have. However good Reid is, he is what their 3rd choice FH. He will be much better than Joe Ford, but even so we are still talking about a pretty low budget backup player for us. Now maybe he will come, and prove me wrong, but turning 29 this season and reports suggesting he is moving for a payday does not fill me with confidence. I would rather we used our development squad and academy players to warm the bench than bring in yet another foreign player who has never been more than a backup player so far - even if it is in the strongest team in the NH.

I think that there is also a full page picture of Kyle Traynor next to that entry.
