Halftime Break Increased to 12 mins for RWC

The International Rugby Board (IRB) has confirmed the half-time length for Rugby World Cup matches will be increased to 12 minutes.

IRB head of the Rugby World Cup Kit McConnell said while a 10 minute half-time break was the standard length for the 2007 world cup and for most Southern Hemisphere matches and competitions, the longer break had been tested in the Northern Hemisphere.

Allow for an extra 4 x 30 second commercial?

An extra nervous visit to urinal ?

I suspect it has to do with TV revenue. But its a small change we probably won't notice.

That means we can fit in two now! Brilliant!

To be honest its no worse than the commentators trying to make up something on the spot and talk about some stupid thing.

It can only be to shoe-horn in more adverts, but I can't see it being a big issue to most players or fans.

Ah remember the days when it was 4 minutes standing in the middle of the pitch and then get on with it .....

Probably wouldn't take too much, the laws allow for water breaks, so you don't even have to change the existing lawbook to force something like that through.

Maybe product placement could be the next step.
POC should get good sponsorship from a contact lense manufacturer as he usually gets a dedicated shot of putting in a lense during any televised game. An extra couple of quid and the commentator could reference the brand and drop a logo into the corner of the screen.
