The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

No Mick, I saw it. Forward passes galore off Jackson were missed, plus plenty of offsides by both teams.
One of the refs in this tourny is called Greef. Surely he should be reffing a Leicester v Ospreys game

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
To be born in Wales,
Not with a silver spoon in your mouth,
But, with music in your blood
And with poetry in your soul,
Is a privilege indeed.
Your inheritance is a land of Legend,
Of love and contrast.
A land of beauty so bright it burns the eyes.
Of ugliness that scars the Spirit
As the Earth.
Wales is an old land with wounds
That weep in hills.
They wept before in the bodies of men
And in the hearts of women
And time will never heal them.
The stigmata of sorrow,
Of pain and poverty,
Of lonely crucifixion in the dark,
Remain our lives to feed.
This Land of our Fathers was built on coal.
Its rivers of mingled blood and sweat
Have forever darkened it,
Relieved only by death.
We are a sad people.
Our sadness being wrapped in harps and music
And praise to God,
For the lovely, yearning light
That feeds the Spirit as well as the eyes.
Not with a silver spoon in your mouth,
But, with music in your blood
And with poetry in your soul,
Is a privilege indeed.

C) You're just ignoring the Welsh lesson

Penfro, can I have A, B and C please and a consonant Carol?
My tears are like the quiet drift
Of petals from some magic rose;
And all my grief flows from the rift
Of unremembered skies and snows.
I think, that if I touched the earth,
It would crumble;
It is so sad and beautiful,
So tremulously like a dream.

"I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet's wings.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart's core."
What an illiterate bunch of bog-trotting, turnip munchers

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I love you for that Penfro. And I probably always will.
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow
You are not wrong, who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
I stand amid the roar
Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand--
How few! Yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
While I weep--while I weep!
O God! can I not grasp
Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! Can I not save
One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow

Nor the homesick moon,

That is all in chaos
At the centre of God's glory."

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening all
I don't know, but this has to contain some of the cheesiest lyrics I've ever heard!
The devil came from kansas. where he went to I can't say
Though I teach I'm not a preacher, and I aim to stay that way
There's a monkey riding on my back, been there for some time
He says he knows me very well but he's no friend of mine
I am not a humble pilgrim
There's no need to scrape and squeeze
And don't beg for silver paper
When I'm trying to sell you cheese
The devil came from kansas. where he went to I can't say
If you really are my brother then you'd better start to pray
For the sins of those departed and the ones about to go
There's a dark cloud just above us, don't tell me 'cos I know
I am not a humble pilgrim
There's no need to scrape and squeeze
And don't beg for silver paper
When I'm trying to sell you cheese
No I never came from kansas, don't forget to thank the cook
Which reminds me of my duty: I was lost and now I look
For the turning and the signpost and the road which takes you down
To that pool inside the forest in whose waters I shall drown
I am not a humble pilgrim
There's no need to scrape and squeeze
And don't beg for silver paper
When I'm trying to sell you cheese

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Evans? Yes, many a time
I came down his bare flight
Of stairs into the gaunt kitchen
With its wood fire, where crickets sang
Accompaniment to the black kettle’s
Whine, and so into the cold
Dark to smother in the thick tide
Of night that drifted about the walls
Of his stark farm on the hill ridge.
It was not the dark filling my eyes
And mouth apalled me; not even the drip
Of rain like blood from the one tree
Weather-tortured. It was the dark
Silting the veins of that sick man
I left stranded upon the vast
And lonely shore of his bleak bed.
I came down his bare flight

With its wood fire, where crickets sang

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Hey up. I'm sure you've all missed ignoring me. Well I'm back ;-)
My course is solid, but I'm still there. Hardest thing I've ever done. Sorry to be boring, but most can get away with saying that ;-)
I'm doing a sponsored run/march as part of a team for Help for Heroes. See more here;
http://www.justgiving.com/teams/MOVERS
I won't ask for sponsorship off any of you, cos to most it won't seem like a big deal. All I'll say is the race bit of it makes it that we have to run a lot of it, so you can maybe imagine a lump like me trying to run a long distance. Given my leadership position, I have to set an example so I will have to push it out. Help for Heroes and the RAF Benevolent Fund are two great charities. Any donations would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only if you want to mind!!!!
Anyway, I'll just be ignored again

Wont be ignored by me Rev, darlin. I don't do online or remote charidee. Never have. Never will. Dont believe it should be necessary in a "civilised" World. I've given money direct, when I know where it's going to.
But, I will give to your cause. In cash. When we meet.
Nite/mornin pal. Slaap lekker.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Morning all, usual for me pls: &
Chuffed to bits for the wee jocks - 33-0 against the baby Boks is a moral victory!! I remember this time last year, being in the pub with you lot, and having MrsP laughing her head off at the 73-0 result in the same game at the JWC 2010 (and the year before was 72-3!). So, very proud of the young Scots - what they give away in physicality they donotlack in courage. One or two moments to give us hope too - I particularly liked Weir's try saving tackle on their winger when he held the ball up. There's a few lads will come thru to the big time

Morning All
Just about to watch The Sunday Game on the iPlayer as per. I see there was something of a sing-off, poetry evening last night.
Kia mentioned how cold it was. Apparently it was snowing quite heavily on Snowdon yesterday!

Morning As. Thought the wee Scots might have made more of that game if they didn't keep dropping the ball!
A bit like their seniors at times if you don't mind me saying so. Such a simple aspect of the game to get right imo, but a trait that seems to run through Scottish rugby at the moment.
Where's HOOOWWEEEEEELLLLLLLLSSSSYYYYY!!
