First topic message reminder :

Something is going on this year

Both Glasgow and Edinburgh are playing quite well!

Is it a dream, am I imagining it, am I going to wake up in a cold sweat and find out that we are really cr*p again?

Someone please reassure me!!

We’ve only beaten you twice so far this season

He's probably preempting the 3rd leg  OK

No wonder Glasgow are so shoite these days when they’ve already lost to us mentally eh.

Incidentally, 'Tom Heathcote's Tongan Nightmare' is a great massage parlour in the New Town.

I was wondering your views on getting the most out of the Champions Cup quarter final match in Murrary Field. Do you sell as many tickets as you can and get a big physical day and sell it to the fans as come and support us or Munster will out number us.

Or do they limit Munster fans and hope they win the game (Even though they dont get a home semi)

Looks like Roddy Grant is off to join the growing contingent with Scottish connections at Ulster, not sure when this is likely to be, presumably next season.

Steve Lawrie looks like he is going to get the gig, a decent appointment I would say, but one that leaves Watsonians without a coach for the beginning of the Super 6 campaign next year.

Still they have got a bit of time to work that that one out and it is good to see good young Scottish coaches getting a move up to professional level. That was what the pathway was meant to be all about.

Would it be correct to say Grant was the best flanker never to play for Scotland?

I also think it's great that Grant is away to Ulster. In this game you stangnate if you stay around in the same place and moving to a decent club like Ulster lets the flow of coaches continue from inside

He was probably one of the best players never to play for Scotland! Especially you consider some of the rubbish players that were capped ahead of him. From memory I don't think Hugh Blake had even played a club game before he was capped?

It was a real shame he never got any caps, especially because you had characters like Hugh Blake and Blair Cowan getting caps within the same period - nothing against them, but Roddy put his whole career into Scottish Rugby and was easily the equal of either of them. I think you are right RD, don't think Hugh had played a game for either pro team.

Very glad that the coaching system seems to be working, there are some good coaches floating about in Scotland these days.

Was Huge actually capped? I don't remember ever watching him play for Scotland.

I can't Google it. I'm too old.

1 cap against Ireland in the 2015 6N. He has 6 caps for Edinburgh and 3 for Glasgow before being farmed out to the 7s. He hadn't played a pro game in Scotland before he was capped.

In other news, Edinburgh are down south but there has been a bit of a news black out down in South Africa, probably because no journalist have bothered to go down there with them, despite them pleading with their editor no doubt!

They released a couple of photos this afternoon and I was trying to see which players were in it. It was not a great shot though and the only one really clear was Marfo, who has a fairly distinctive hairstyle.

Someone on the Edinburgh forum thought they could see Bradbury though!

I'm also on the lookout for new moderators from each of the home nations so have a think if you're interested OK

I see that you no longer wish to be associated with Scotland, RDW? That's your USP/IP rights fecked.

Seriously, well done although obviously I can't promise to be any more polite about people from the east coast just because you happen to now wield supreme executive power.

Ha I was waiting for someone to make that joke!

TBH I've been meaning to change my name for a while - I only kept that because it was my name on the original 606 and wanted people to know it was me.

Now that I have a forum-wide role I just think it will help reduce any calls of favouritism!

Jimbo the Mod?

Would I need to provide my own Parka?

Wee John next door (Big Donnacha O'Callaghan's cousin) parks his Vespa in my garage (not a metaphor) so I could commute from the living room to the study on that.

Would there be paid holidays?

Who makes the tea?

oh god, Jimbo as a mod. can you imagine the mayhem!!!

1. All Glasgow fans are given a button that disables the swear filter
2. All Edinburgh fans are given a ban during the annual slaughter of the soap dodgers
3. All requests for folk to stop wumming will be done in a Dickensian style, complete with really big words and a philosophical quote launched at them.
4. The football forum will be full with yarns of Young Pipetto
5. We don't know how he did it, but Jimbo has used the quote function in such a way that there's now a risk that if anyone uses the Doh emoji, a signal is sent to the receiver in Donald Trump to make him say "I'm the least racist person in the world, I really am" (You read that in Trumps voice didn't you). The more worrying thing is that if someone replies "You're worse than Mildly Racist Uncle Dougie", it causes Trump to press the big red button!

Weegie free zone

Renameing the forum "The 1872 - a tribute to Edinburgh's continued dominance over the Westies"

Making GC the new Admin boy!

All funds raised by the forum are used to purchase Edinburgh tickets and then raffled off to Edinburgh fans

I have other great ideas if you need them!

I wonder if it being on channel 4 might reduce the numbers slightly, especially with an early KO.  Folk who might have travelled up/down/across to Edinburgh may be put off by having to get into Edinburgh early, especially if they can watch it for free at home.

EDIT: Some former members of this parish (and others) are on twitter talking about the KO time and it being underwhelming. I think for those who live slightly further afield may struggle to get down in time. Certainly won't appeal to the casual fan who don't live in Edin.

Maybe all Edinburgh fans can get together at The Wee Pub on the Grassmarket and elect a leader! There should be enough room for all 6 of you.

That includes the bar staff as well right?  Otherwise I think you're being too generous.

see, I knew this would happen! You get skepled in both fixtures of the Cup and we put you through to the Q/F of the big cup and now because you have two Mods you are back to throwing insults at the fine establishment that is Edinburgh Rugby!

If only Edinburgh fans had some all powerful being to act on our part...............

Tattie did you mean to reply to me on that?

If so, I'm an Edinburgh fan.

well stop bloomin siding with the unwashed then! Hug

There's only 4 Edinburgh fans on here. We need to stick together! Especially now that Flounder Boy is away doing big bossman important things and not helping us remind the unwashed that they've lost the last 8 out of 10 matches against us!

Not great results for Edinburgh tonight - Treviso got a draw and Scarlets got a LBP, both games where they weren't expected to come away with anything.

Could have been worse though - Ulster needed an injury time try to get a draw!

The draw could work I out favour as it reduced the points ahead Benetton achieved. I’m expecting 4 points to
Oreos to go back into 2nd

To Oreos is meant to be tomorrow. Clearly it’s passed my bedtime

Or its time to get some goddamn oreos I suppose.

At the risk of derailing this thread into two pages of biscuit-chat again, the oreo seems to be a very divisive biscuit. It can be a bit sickly sweet so lots of people don't really like them - these people are wrong. They're delicious, and particularly good for dipping.

I don't see the obsession with Oreos - they're pretty uninspiring really.

I had Timtams today as part of my work's Australia Day celebrations (it's an Aussie company) they're far superior to penguins.
