Australia India Tipping Competition
First topic message reminder :
I know it's rather late but if you can get your picks in during the next few hours... early morning UK time... then it will be good to go.
A more watered down version; just 2 batsmen, 2 bowlers from each side and the match winner or select draw.
Won't do the wicket keeper catches this time but they can get points through c/b or stumpings on top of their runs scored. See below.
- score 1 point = 1 run. Bonus 25 points for 100 runs. 50 point bonus for a double. 100 extra points for 300 runs.
- score 25 points = 1 wicket. 5-for an extra 50 points on top of 125 points = 175. 10-for; an extra 100 = 350. 35 points for a caught & bowled.
- score 20 points for a catch (any of your 4 batsmen/bowlers) 35 points for a caught & bowled. 25 points for a run out (fielder). 30 for a direct hit.
- for above: except if you have chosen a w/k in your four; then 10 points for each caught behind, 20 points for a stumping.
Pick the correct result - win or draw each Test = 50 points
Here are the lineups:
Australia:
Harris, Khawaja, Labuschagne, S Marsh, Head, Handscomb,
Paine (capt & wk), Cummins, Starc, Lyon, Hazlewood
India:
Agarwal, Rahul, Pujara, Kohli (capt), Rahane, Vihari,
Pant (wk), Jadeja, Kuldeep, Shami, Bumrah

Assuming my 4 play again, no changes. I'm expecting that they'll be trying extra hard to repay my loyalty!

Ashwin is out due to injury.....most likely will be replaced by Jadeja...that that automatically becomes my pick?

Not necessarily... but you want Jadeja in for Ashwin, yes?KP_fan wrote:Pal Joey wrote:Thanks KPF, James, Duty, Olly and Guildford. Changes / picks noted.

Also James, Guildford, JD and Duty - with Ashwin out - please confirm if you want his replacement Jadeja or someone else.
Maybe let me know if you don't want Jadeja - i.e. automatic replacement. Right KPF? same for Rohit/Vihari... which nobody has.
Thanks JD and Dolphin.

- Table:
Here's how the working points table looks. A bit blurry (on here) but it seems to work.
I even have boxes for "runs required to win"... can do "follow on" as well.
All blank at the moment. Just have to add the runs, wickets, catches, etc.
As you can see - I'm still waiting on Alfie and Kumar... the rising star. ... and I still have to think about mine.
I'll keep the door open as late as possible - if anyone has second thoughts or if there are team changes... just let me know.

My new Team :
Handscomb, Marsh, Lyon, Hazlewood
Pujara, Kohli, Bumrah, Shami
India will Win
I have replaced Khwaja with Handscomb and Starc with Hazlewood. In the Indian side, I will make inroads for Pujara in place of Vijay.

Sorry , Joey...forgot about this ...but happy to stick with the status quo. Not at all sure about the result in Perth but would be unfair to change after an Australian opening stand of over 100
As long as I get off the bottom I'm happy !

Cheers, Joey. Hadn't thought about Ashwin not playing. Happy to go with Yadav as you suggested if still ok.

Was travelling so missed most of first day play. At the end of day 1, I maintained the 5th position being continued from the last test match. Shami was wicket less. Ishant in spite of his 4 wickets would be my last choice anytime. I hope Pujara and Kohli will take my tally to some good score.

I've been hiding behind the sofa waiting for today's results!
All the pundits here and everywhere else going on about how Jadeja rather than Yadav for the injured Ashwin would have increased India's chance of a win - never mind that, what about my place in the competition?!

All the pundits here and everywhere else going on about how Jadeja rather than Yadav for the injured Ashwin would have increased India's chance of a win - never mind that, what about my place in the competition?!
You need to get out the Regency period, Guildford. Maybe today you'll get back into the 20th C.

Nothing wrong with being a dinosaur, Joey. Come back and argue the point when you've ruled the earth for a 100 million years.

No, nothing wrong with that. Some fossil records may hold the key to the success of future civilsations I know.

Re: Australia India Tipping Competition
Leader Board 2nd Test, Day 5:
[figure in brackets = points above or below the average score]
final figure = Day 5 points
2482 Olly [+233] 46
2476 KP_Fan [+227] 133
2476 Dolphin [+227] 120
2312 James [+63] 136
2214 JD [-35] 237
2194 S Kumar [-55] 45
2128 Alfie [-121] 167
2123 Duty [-126] 157
2076 Pal Joey [-173] 111
2011 Guildfordbat [-238] 198
average score: 2249
Day 5 average: 135
So halfway through the series Olly leads KPF & Dolphin (who are both tied in 2nd place) by 6 points only! Just one picket fence away....
Duty, Guildford, myself, James and JD scored a 50 point bonus for the Aus win.
Thanks for participating everyone - it has been an interesting competition indeed.
When you get a chance - (it's better once we know exactly who will be playing in Melbourne) - get your changes / picks posted up here.
Think we should all have the opportunity to start afresh - since there will no doubt be some changes to the teams.
In other words, just confirm your 2 batsmen and 2 bowlers (from each side) again... plus your winner before the next test kicks off on December 26.
Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and especially good times with family and friends over the coming week.
