England - the winter tours thread
First topic message reminder :
...and Smiths being more guarded about him for the world cup than the press hype has been.
But he is eligible for the T20s on this tour, for which the squad hasnt been named yet if he pulls out of the BBL. Aside form that theres just the 5 match warm up series against Pakistan for him to be capped before the world cup.
Smith does seem to think Denly can make a case for inclusion in the world cup squad, so despite him not getting much cricket in sri lanka, struggling with the bat, and only being a replacement for Dawson in the ODI squad he must be doing something right.
Of the two though you'd think Archer had more potential to improve Englands first XI on home pitches.

Turns out he doesn’t actually qualify until March - so couldn’t make the West Indies tour

Better fielding in this match by Windies

Re: England - the winter tours thread
If Buttler and Morgan can force the spinners out the attack, get the seamers bowling before the 40th over then there will be big runs to be scored in the final 10.
It's an interestingly poised game. England are on top but it's a very good batting pitch and how big this score gets could largely depend on Buttler.

England are very much on top unless Windies can get a few quick wickets.

If Buttler is still there in 10 overs then it should be game over. If Windies can get him quickly then it could be game on.
Morgan is in excellent form but can't take a game away in a short space of time the way that Buttler can.
It's now England's game to lose though without a doubt though.

Nine overs left, England 279/3. Should be looking for 380+.

Morgan smacks 21 from a single Holder over to make me look a prize cabbage!

Great decision from the England camp to bring Buttler in at 5. This situation gave him a bit more time to get set and now he's taking the game away.

44 off the last two overs. Another dull game where absolutely everything is in the batsmen’s favour.

Agreed, feel a bit sorry for young Oshane Thomas here. The bloke is just looking around wondering what to do, nothing in the bowlers favour.

Regardless of whether Buttler is unbeaten or not this innings will take his ODI average above 40 with a strike rate of around 117.
An unbelievable talent.

418/6. Good score. Wouldn't rule out the Windies entirely, but England should be safe from here.

Re: England - the winter tours thread
Well, new record or 6s in an innings brings Buttler his 150, then out next ball.
418-6 after 50, having been on 300 after 42 overs and 264 after 40. 154 runs in the last 10 overs...
words fail me

What are the odds of a WI win? What would I get if I put 10 euro's on them?

12/1 with Bet365, so you'd win 120 euros if the Windies pulled this escape off.

Early wicket for England...thankfully it's not Gayle!

Darren Bravo really struggling to rotate the strike and Gayle's reluctance to run is not helping!

Chris Gayle brought up his 10,000th ODI run with his 500th international six. A phenomenal achievement for the giant Jamaican

The standard of limited overs batting has improved massively in recent years but bowling skills and ability have drastically diminished.

Ben Stokes recreating the World T20 final over several times over. Windies are up with the rate but can't see it lasting

Gayle brings up his century from 55 balls.
He's been a polarising figure for years but remains an entertaining bastman to watch.

25th ODI hundred and 300th ODI six. Gayle was a player worthy of playing in stronger West Indies sides from the past.

England, much like their West Indian counterparts, are bowling some real dross here. Woakes has just bowled a 10 ball over ffs

If he's eligible, I think it's a no-brainer that England try out Archer during the Pakistan ODI series (five games). Badly lacking a consistently good ODI bowler.

Moeen Ali arguably one of the worst bowlers in England’s ODI history. Average fast approaching 50

Wood back into the attack and gets the wicket. Much needed for England.

Hetmyer hooks his first ball for 6 and the second straight down deep square legs throat.
4 wickets so far for Wood. He's done himself a few favours on this tour going into a big summer of cricket for England.
I can see Wood and Archer pushing Plunkett hard for a world cup place. Plunkett's pace has dropped significantly.

Re: England - the winter tours thread
England need to bowl Wood out here. Can't hold anything back for the death. Wood gets Gayle, that's the game. The scoreboard pressure will be too much. If they get 100 in the next 10 and need a run a ball from the last 10 and Gayle goes then, the tail could see them there.
Re: England - the winter tours thread
Required run rate well within Windies' reach, but they may have lost one wicket too many at this stage.

Ah there we go. RRR has gone up in the last couple of overs as well.
