In an action packed session it's true that the great multiple World Drivers Champion kept his head to post a very competitive time, whilst others were pushing beyond the limits of cars and into walls.

It proves the mental toughness that this driver has. Despite the lack of performance and under achievement of his car and team, Fernando can still keep his cool and deliver in such a high pressure, high incident session.

No points are awarded on Friday or Saturday. The UNICEF ambassador will destroy his tyres again and get lapped by the German Whizkid in his Fizzy drinks car and The Second coming of Senna in his dynamite Mclaren

Is there any need for provocative anti-Alonso comments?

Alonso was fastest in practice, and Vettel thinks Ferrari look strong. Using a bit of logic, Ferrari will perform well here - both the low downforce nature of the circuit and the softer tyres play to their strengths.

Chances are that Vettel will still win - but Ferrari are very good in race pace and overtaking shouldn't be too hard with 2 DRS zones. There's no way he'll get lapped.

Just for the record, when Alonso got lapped in Spain, it wasn't because he destroyed his tyres, it's because he never got them heated to the right working temperature - so in effect, he was on cold tyres.

I think Vettel will cruise it again, he barely ran in the first session then as he did in session two he was fastest straight away. Force India looking strong

Do the people of Monza think Alonso will get pole? Due to the long straights in Canada, I have a sneaky feeling its going to be a Mclaren 1/2
