Super Rugby Final Crusaders v Jaguares

Oh geee whizz this could be a good game. Vamos Jaguares.

Poor enough conditions for a final, cold and wet.

First blood Jaguares 3-0. No sign of Crusaders dominance in scrum so far. Lots of crusaders mistakes from Jaguares pressure.

10-3 to Crusaders at half time. Pretty evenly matched. 1 penalty a piece at the scrum, 1 steal for the Jaguares at lineout, even enough at breakdown, Crusaders dominating gainline marginally. More errors from Crusaders but slippy ball.

Jaguares dropped the ball over the line to take the lead. Not a great final but crap weather. Cold and miserable in Christchurch.

Crusaders using the choke tackle to good effect (OGara influence maybe)

The scoreline is what I might have expected but the Jaguares have looked better than that. The test will be whether they get disheartened through not scoring, or if they can keep the pressure on, and actually take their chances.

Another missed chance. their kicking has been bad too.

Yeah he did. Good lesson in how to win a final by the Crusaders today, nothing flash but solid and well organised.

The longer the Jaguares went without scoring, the less it seemed likely they would mount a meaningful last quarter fight back.

Yeah true although they had some good chances

It was like watching Munster win the H Cup. ROG’s influence on that one shows through. Jaguares kicked to death.

No I meant that. Anyway it was an exhibition from the Saders on how to win a final against for me a team who are definitely the 2nd best side in the tournament. Saders definitely deserved the win but the scoreline flatters them a bit.

Some really good decisions from the Saders. Loved the pretend to go down the line quick tap. Looked pre planned and executed well.

Think there may have been a knock on by Matt Todd in the ruck for the Crusaders try. Bit lucky that wasnt reviewed.

Might not be a truism but interesting to note crusaders strong defence with ROG as coach. He did something similar with R92 in the short term. Will be interesting to see what La Rochelle will be like attack wise. I bet their defenders will be mean though.
