Georgia Double Header - Scotlands last warm up games 31st August and 6th September
First topic message reminder :
So after a mixed bag in the first two games, we now face a difficult away trip to Tiblisi followed 6 days later by hosting the same team at home at Murrayfield.
With the travelling involved, a 6 hour flight apparently, as well as a Georgian team with a lot to prove playing in front of a crowd of 50,000, this ill no doubt be a serious test and an indication of what playing in a hostile environment in unpleasant conditions will be like. A dress rehersal for the Japan game in many ways.
So who does he play first up?
The squad is being finalised after the away game, but you would imagine that he is not going to want to waste any spaces on players that he has already made his mind up about.
He certainly is not going to risk any injured players, so that rules out Thompson, Skinner, Seymour for sure, along with the possibity of Taylor, Bradbury, Gray and we are not sure if Brown and Johnson will be fit either.
I am going to assume that none of them are ready to travel and have a stab at a team along these lines:
1. Reid
2. McInally
3. Fagerson Z
4. Gilchrist
5. Cummings
6. Wilson
7. Ritchie
8. Fagerson M
9. Horne G
10. Hastings
11. Graham
12. Hutchinson
13. Jones
14. Maitland
15. Kinghorn

One of the more interesting battles for a spot in the squad is Graham v Kinghorn, I think only one of them is going to go
Graham probably got the slight edge atm

Some good stuff in there. Matt Fagerson one of the standouts from the first half, he’s been very busy and carried well

Matt Fagerson definitely putting Bradbury under some pressure
Missing these warm up games may end up costing him

He's been prominent but that's only because every kick off has gone to him. It's not like he's made any yards from it!
He has at least been getting involved in the game, which is good.

The outstanding moment of the half was when Frodo got the ball ten yards from the Georgian try line with no-one in front of him and immediately passed to a second row; always give it to the fastest option

Re: Georgia Double Header - Scotlands last warm up games 31st August and 6th September
I reckon Darcy should be first choice after this. Tackled well, run well and took a great try. How good is it that we can call on him and Seymour on the wing?
Hutch has also looked pretty comfortable at centre . Its between him and Harris for third choice OC depending on Jones' form and Taylor's fitness. We need to remember whilst it's a physical test it's against georgia. Still think laidlaw is too ponderous, even when the ball pops out.

Aye that was odd. I thought at the very least a yellow as i don't think it was malicious but even still.
Not the best reffing performance tbh.

Yet again I am impressed by Darcy. I get the feeling that his favourite way to finish a night out would be going for a kebab with Batman.

So. Is it possible that we’ve seen the last of Jones for Scotland?
Crazy to think
Though Hutch had a good game and seems to be taking his club form to the international stage

Well Huw Jones did little to make a case, I reckon he could be in trouble and rightly so, he’s done nothing of note on a rugby pitch for far too long

Re: Georgia Double Header - Scotlands last warm up games 31st August and 6th September
Really professional display from Scotland - that's what I want to see against Samoa and Russia.
The entire team did well but my standouts were Mcinally, Fagerson, Russell, Hutchinson and Graham.
I'm not sure Jones actually touched the ball in 20 minutes!
Georgia will be disappointed with their performance - this was their audition and they failed it. They had some decent spells but Scotland won that comfortably without really having to get out of 3rd gear

Re: Georgia Double Header - Scotlands last warm up games 31st August and 6th September
I think Georgia suffered from nerves and didn’t settle. It was almost like their cup final or to a lesser extent a 7ns try out and the occasion seemed to get to them.
We’ll see how they go at Murrayfield but if they play like they did tonight and we have the full team out it could be a big score. I’m in two minds if we want our first 23 out there to warm them up or leave them out to keep them safe.
