Georgia Double Header - Scotlands last warm up games 31st August and 6th September
First topic message reminder :
So after a mixed bag in the first two games, we now face a difficult away trip to Tiblisi followed 6 days later by hosting the same team at home at Murrayfield.
With the travelling involved, a 6 hour flight apparently, as well as a Georgian team with a lot to prove playing in front of a crowd of 50,000, this ill no doubt be a serious test and an indication of what playing in a hostile environment in unpleasant conditions will be like. A dress rehersal for the Japan game in many ways.
So who does he play first up?
The squad is being finalised after the away game, but you would imagine that he is not going to want to waste any spaces on players that he has already made his mind up about.
He certainly is not going to risk any injured players, so that rules out Thompson, Skinner, Seymour for sure, along with the possibity of Taylor, Bradbury, Gray and we are not sure if Brown and Johnson will be fit either.
I am going to assume that none of them are ready to travel and have a stab at a team along these lines:
1. Reid
2. McInally
3. Fagerson Z
4. Gilchrist
5. Cummings
6. Wilson
7. Ritchie
8. Fagerson M
9. Horne G
10. Hastings
11. Graham
12. Hutchinson
13. Jones
14. Maitland
15. Kinghorn

You can physically see the ref making the scrum decision at the last second.
Fagerson has been pish though.

Fagerson has played himself out of a bench spot. Shame.

Aha the storyteller arrives! Let’s see what the very underrated, and really quite exceptional, don’t you know, Peter Horne can do

We've not been great this game but romain poite has been pretty poor. His scrum decisions are basically him rolling mental dice.

Re: Georgia Double Header - Scotlands last warm up games 31st August and 6th September
I disagree with previous posts that darcy shouldn't be first choice for Ireland. He's a player who takes chances, which against a team like ireland is essential. Seymour can provide excellent cover from bench if required.

Nice from Harris, held his line nicely and made the tiny bit of space Graham needed. Well worked try

Didn't look like much but Chris Harris once again doing the basics very well - if he'd passed that a fraction earlier Darcy wouldn't have had the space.

Thomson does look to be worryingly fragile, although they may just be taking no risks.

I was thinking that biggee, just a little chip ahead and he'd have dotted that down.

Well a bit wobbly at times, but I guess that is what warm ups are all about

Weird game, some lovely flowing rugby at the start of the match which fizzled out once Kinghorn went off. A big patch of looking very ordinary in the middle, then opening up and putting them away at the end. Let’s hope none of the injuries are serious

That score definitely flattered us - it wasn't a good performance and the late scores didn't really make up for that.

Re: Georgia Double Header - Scotlands last warm up games 31st August and 6th September
Winners today:
Graham
Kinghorn
Johnson
Harris
Horne the media darling
Price
Cummings
Berghan
Dell
Toolis
Losers:
Hastings
Turner
Fagerson
Pass marks:
The rest
On the whole for the team, probably a C. To give georgia credit they were grizzly b*stards for most of the game and caused us a fair few problems. We really need to practice the basics. As I've said in previous posts, under vern we did the basics well and the flourishes came after. We desperately need to sort our lineouts and for Fraser brown to be fit.

Also with regard to cummings. First carrying SR since Richie. Could you imagine them in the engine room together 6Ns 2020!?

Re: Georgia Double Header - Scotlands last warm up games 31st August and 6th September
The worry is the injury to Ritchie. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him being diagnosed with a fractured cheek bone. We only have two proper sevens on the squad. If he goes down can Matt Fagerson cover adequately?

Re: Georgia Double Header - Scotlands last warm up games 31st August and 6th September
Cummings is really pushing for a start atm and has definitely jumped over Toolis in the pecking order, he had a very good game
Darcy Graham ditto over Seymour, though there will be huge pressure to go with Tommy's big game experience.
The Blade runner again was solid if not spectacular, but does seem worryingly fragile. If that was a concussion again, then surely he has to stay at home.
The centre combo worked well and good to see Taylor doing the whole 80 mins
Harris continues to surprise and it looks like he deserves his place
Both Hornes did well off the bench.
So I guess no more harping on about the squad and we get behind the team
