I really should stop posting. Silly review in the end as well. That was plumb.
Lets see if Curran can do something special. England will need it if they are to get anywhere near 300 now...

I wish we had more ineffective batsmen averaging 53 in the series

This is quickly descending into the usual garbage. England have been absolutely thrashed in a couple of fairly recent Oval Tests where they made 300 odd and it was nowhere near enough. They might not even get 250 here.

Bairstow averages 50 in first class cricket, but his Test career has been underwhelming. With Bairstow he seems to have a touch of Hick about him.

Englands batting is so so bad people are even suggesting Marsh is a good player.

We are going to be lucky to see 80 overs bowled today...

It’s embarrassing. For every over lost, the fielding side should be penalised runs akin to the batting sides run rate. It will soon end this nonsenseeirebilly wrote:We are going to be lucky to see 80 overs bowled today...

Something needs to be done about all these no balls, according to some in the press Cummins has been bowling them all day without being called. The over rate is also terrible and helps the aforementioned Cummins bowl longer spells.

This is what you are going to get from Curran, quick scoring. If he can put 30-40 on then England will feel slightly more confident.

Sadly, he only gets half of that and goes to Marsh for 15

Just when you think they can’t get any worse, they collapse to Mitchell Marsh

I am not one for over doing technology in cricket but Hawkeye works well in Tennis...
Curran gone now. He has the ability to be a very good all rounder just not the composure...

Why was Curran ahead Woakes? Woakes has 1 Test hundred + 9 FC hundreds.

No application, no fight. Just go down swinging which is really what England need in this situation.
Getting bowled out by Marsh. Is that better or worse than Roston Chase doing the demolishing?

Forget Steve Smith's Jack Leach impression, Sam Curran has bettered it with his impersonation of Moeen Ali

Batted like someone who’s been carrying the drinks for months, with the occasional t20 thrown in

Five wickets for 75 runs. For all Australia have bowled well, this is a poor effort on a good pitch.

I thought that due to the slow over rate, play could go until 7pm or is that forgotten if England get bowled out?

18:00 is the scheduled close, but they can go for 30 minutes longer if they don't bowl the overs in time (which they won't!). For the previous tests, the close was extended to 18:30/19:00 because of rain.

pretty sure we was told archer can bat?
butler needs to hog strike now and stop giving the tail enders the strike. hopefully leach can stick around with him

Games from the Aussies, they do not want England out tonight and have to face Broad for a few overs...

Not sure he was faking it but it's a good way to get rid of Paine for the next series.

Bold move but I would almost consider declaring now and give Broad, Archer and Woakes a shot at the Aussies for 20mins.

cant do that while buttler is still there. i can understand if it was archer, broad and leach left (even then i still wouldnt). jos can easily add another quick 30 here

Valuable runs these to help reduce an innings plus 150 defeat to a far more respectable innings plus 100 defeat. All that including a Mitch Marsh century

I would rather take the chance myself and give the bowlers a shot for 20mins. That's just me though
Proven wrong now though as Buttler is surging

and if it doesnt pay off we might have robbed ourselves of a extra 30/40 runs. if it was all tail id much rather they throw the bat at it to try add quick runs

Re: The Ashes - official thread
if only out top order could apply themselves like leach does.
saw earlier nas and athers get a bit for not being very good technically, they'd both walk into this side. neither massively talented but would stick it out in tough conditions unlike our current supposedly more talented batsmen.
