No need to kick. The play is unbelievably sloppy now.

I agree but there are positives to be taken from a BP win and no injuries.
Tomos Williams looking better every game.
Playing the Wallabies will be a different sport altogether though.

When structured at the start wales looked lethal but now it’s loose not looking great. Like I said though it will almost be a different sport playing Australia next.

Just needs to stop forcing play. I am surprised he hasn't been told about that, after the last game.

You lot have taken your foot off the gas this second half.
But you got what needed to be done in the first 20.
The Oz game will be very interesting

Georgia are very strong, have to be up there as one of the strongest packs surely.

Oh nice, forward pass from Parkes but Georgia had chances to clear and didn't.

To be honest I have been reasonably impressed with a few of their backs too.
The scrumhalf who can on and the number 14 winger too.

This finishes 43-14 and it's a result we would've taken all day before the game.
Important turnaround now. I hope Hill is ready, as I would swap him for Shingler on the bench.

Yeh I spotted that too - but not the first of many so far in this tournament ... try taken well though.

I don’t often say this but I’m glad we didn’t try and run that last ball from our own try line.

Re: Wales v Georgia
Very sensible indeed.
Ultimately, it did us no favours getting a BP so early. We were bound to have an eye on this weekend then.

I know that yours was a joke, miaow, but why do so many people still struggle with spelling Tipuric? It often seems to be Welsh fans, similar to the number of Quins who struggle with Sinckler.

Sounds like ALDI own brand correcting fluid. When the Welsh can spell David properly then we can worry about him. Personally I always get Sinckler mixed up with Kitchener.
Anyway more importantly the Welsh bandwagon trundles on. At some point people (me) will have to accept that they are more of a genuine threat than the side that kept losing heroically to good teams in 2011. Ireland and Wales seem to have turned up a touch sharper than England for the first fixture, and should be favourites for the tie with Aus as it stands. No evidence that the Howley situation has had an adverse effect yet and the mood should be strong. Qualification should be an absolute stroll for Wales.

Ball clearly goes backwards by about a metre. Great decision by the referee.

Are you trying to hypnotise them to sleep, Goose?
Nothing to worry about. Go to sleep. Sleeeeeeeeeep. Close your eyes as I slowly count to three.

Nice to win a game after loosing two on the bounce too.
WOL player ratings are pretty overly generous but a few players did some great work out there today Tips (see what I’ve done there LT) in particular looked superb after a couple of matches that were average at best during the warm ups.

You'll have to level with Guns. He still thinks illegally pulling down a scrum is 'amazing scrummaging.'

These ‘match threads’ are great. Pity you have to go somewhere else to then find what any of the scoring or result was. Can I suggest the ‘starter’ of the thread occasionally puts a score up?

Should have been a yellow card. Ludicrous decision from the ref. The only reason, if that really was the case, that the ball didnt go forward off his hand was because of the momentum of the players and the ball. He slapped the pass down, thats always a yellow.

Re: Wales v Georgia
Thought Luke Pearce was good today. Too often we see incidents like the non-knock on given because it's easy - the French refs are the worst for this. Navidi's 'high' tackle against Ireland, Dee throwing a 'forward' pass in the same game. Can't remember Pearce getting anything wrong, really, and wasn't particularly prominent in the game, which is always a good sign.
Mixed reffing so far then.

Ball also has to go forward for it to be a forward pass but everyone knows that momentum comes into play and backwards passes can travel forward.
Its no different here in cynically slapping the pass down. Logical decision is a yellow. Blatantly stupid decision.

Re: Wales v Georgia
It's been discussed on here before but it's perfectly legal to slap the ball backwards towards your own try line. In this case very lucky as you say collapse due to the momentum however nothing the ref can do unless he ignores the laws.

Re: Wales v Georgia
The refs constantly ignore the forward pass laws because they are written the same way, the ball must travel forward.
It is pretty obvious the slap down in this case was exactly what the laws were written to prevent even if they werent written precicely enough to account for momentum.

should have yellow carded him for dissent then, slapping the ball down forwards but allowing the ball to travel backwards is taking the pi$$

So he tried a slap down and missed, and the ball went backwards. So no offence. As the ref said at the time after he watched the replay.
It’s a bit like someone planning to do a spear tackle, not quite having the strength and ending up just doing a standard tackle within the laws of the game. So no offence.

Re: Wales v Georgia
Thats a bizarre take on the incident. He didnt try a slap down he did one. Refs are given leeway to interpret the laws and anyone with basic common sense can see slap down was exactly what the law is there to prevent.

He messed up a slap down, if it went backwards (which it did). So I’ll stick with ‘tried’ rather than ‘did’. So no offence. Players are allowed to slap the ball sideways or backwards. He lucked out here that putting his hand out, which looked a bit instinctive, resulted in the ball not going forward.
