Re: England vs USA - match thread
Launchbury dropped a couple before he went off, does that factor into it?
There is a long break before the Argentina game, so its not like players need the rest. Maybe just a bit of cotton wool treatment, but Launchbury isn't one of our more brittle players.

Ref needs to demand an hia as well if farrell hasn't already gone off.

Re: England vs USA - match thread
It was definitely a red card offence. And that's the first red card issued at this tournament, however it isn't the first red card offence at this tournament. That's what irks me a little.

No, the opposite actually. Needs to be stamped out of the game. Red card a good call. Just wish they'd apply it more consistently (e.g. to Farrell as well previously).

Silly boy!
Slightly ironic that it was Farrell on the receiving end of it, but a red all day long!

It does, much natter has been made about it including his tackles against (Rodda) and the south african bloke being used by the ref's panel to demonstrate when a card should have been given but wasn't, leading up the RWC
on with the game though, decent kick by Farrell despite the fact he's probably had a serious knock to the head!

Re: England vs USA - match thread
Without wishing to derail the thread, it is probxbly fsir to say that Farrell in the past has a reputation for unorthodox tackles.
He has apparently been adjusting his tackling technique for this competition to ensure he does not fall foul of his reputation and stricter reffing (though that seems to have taken a little while to kick in)
If that is the case, it would be very sensible both for the player and the game in general.

Re: England vs USA - match thread
Some lovely backs moves from England. Good lines and nice loops, etc. All done at pace.
