Focussing on the positive side of the match England’s 10/12 axis working very well, Young’s looking in great form at 9. Itoje playing really well. Other than a lost line out the set piece is holding up very well too...

Just because Farrell is guilty of late hits in the past and getting away with them is no reason as to why the late hit on him should go unpunished.

I was surprised at the call that the height of Farrell wasn’t questioned by the ref/TMO.

It was if you listened to the conversation. Nige said Farrell wasn’t dipping sufficient for mitigation.

Well the studio will have plenty to talk about in the half time interval.
Argentina have been excellent given they are a man down, they will gas after 60mins thug and the flood gates will open for England.

Considering the man advantage, the amount of penalties Argentina have conceded this half and the quality of England’s backline is a 7 point lead acceptable to England fans...?
In these circumstances surely you were thinking this should be BP by halftime?

Not really, there's this desire to use Tuilagi as a constant blunt force weapon whereas he's much more effective when used sparingly, it puts the opposition on the back foot and creates space as the third try showed.

Well i don't think it was a red. A yellow for me...but the players know how the refs have been going this wc so they should be alert.
I d9nt th8nk it will matter anyway...the Argentinians look unfit
We look workmanlike. Curry has been everywhere.
Elliot Daly is still a frustration for me. He had a break away with May outside him.. and instead of putitng the pace on and drawing defenders in leaving May clear he just lazily passed to May allowing all the defenders to close him down. Very poor play.

I thought the red was a little harsh, but most other people seem pretty convinced it was a red.
England lost their way a bit after the red card, maybe they thought it would be too easy. But 3 tries to nil shows how the game has gone. Farrell having a shocker from the tee, but had he kicked his kicks and we were 24-3 up you'd say the game was buried.
The only thing keeping Argentina in this game is Farrell's kicking from tee. I expect us to kick on in this second half.

Before the game started i was expecting/hoping England would get a bonus point before half time. But Argentina are making life more difficult for England than i gave them credit for.
It still looking like a good game, you get the feeling one moment lapse of concentration and Argentina will strike back and make it even harder for England.
Looking forward to the 2nd half.

Disappointing game so far.
Obvious red , but it spoiled the game. No idea why England are kicking so much with Daly and May looking so dangerous ? And bizarre to see Farrell has left his kicking boots somewhere else...
Argentina battling well - could be twenty points behind easily but are hanging in somehow.
Expect a cricket score in the second half though.

That's why Woodward is paid the big bucks. If theres any tackle in the air it's a yellow card. What a plum.

Nearer a yellow when Matera lifted curry in the driving maul. Pretty dangerous thing to do when you're not going to be expecting it.

The Manu tackle was only a penalty, the Arg player had a ridiculous amount of hang time and was jumping forward. Manu did tackle him but it wasn't with force and he was close to landing
Just a penalty and a word to watch it. As for the play acting disgraceful.

It's the second game in a row where farrell has taken a high hit and not had a hia. Medical and coaching staff failing on that front along with the officials.

The LAWS haven’t changed, their interpretation has been strengthened to protect player welfare. High hits, illegal hits and shoulder charges still go on, when caught you will be punished.
But by your reply I take it you agree there was absolutely no difference...?

When there is a suspected incident of head impact by a player or players, this should be identified by match officials on the field, team doctors or independent match-day doctors who have access to video replays. If the independent match-day doctor decides an incident may have occurred, the player(s) involved must be removed, either permanently or for further assessment.
