Thought I'd get these made nice and early for a few reasons - but one being that we're already now looking ahead to the QFs with several teams having finished their group stage, so it's all heating up for the proper knockout stuff...barring any more disruption.

Oh yes, Watson deserves that. The game follows the script - England blow away the Aussies in the second half after riding out the initial tough start.

England scored a total of 44 points in the knockout stages of the last three World Cups...nearly eclipsed that today.

Indeed - today it didn't matter but on another day in a close match he could really cost a team with calls like that.

Scrums are generally speaking a disgrace and both teams were equally bad : crooked or delayed throws in, flankers « unbinding » too early, front row not binding properly, players standing less than 5m behind the scrum... pretty sure all scrum laws have been raped by both teams.
At least there wasn’t many of them and England dominance was so clear that it didn’t matter much .

Ford came on and steadied the ship and gave us the additional control to see out the game. How dominant would we have been if he'd started? Unsure. His kicking from hand was excellent.

Slade didn't look match fit, handling errors and missed tackles that you don't normally see from him. I was worried about Farrell's form but he really turned up today.

I think one poster predicted that the game would be defined by a card - nothing could be further from the truth.

He was sat in a nice warm room with a screen 2FT away, thankfully Garces guessed right this time and the try was chalked off

Australia just had moments when they switched off, and England never did.

We made our fair share of mistakes, and Australia punished them - but Australia made many more.

I didn't notice any high tackles that were missed? I would have reviewed the one that upended Billy though ....
