Bath Woes
Don't come on here often any more, but just wanted to express my continued disappointment and frustration in watching Bath. If you look at the team and the squad (injuries allowing), there is enough there to compete with all but the very top tier in European rugby.
However, following another dour display against Quins I'm beginning to get seriously worried - how many times were we shouting at players to stop receiving the ball standing still etc etc etc. There is no aggression or snap to anything they are doing at the moment - is it basic skills, or fitness, or something else?
What is left of my hair will soon disappear if I watch another passive display like that. Get fired up, or get fired out.

Re: Bath Woes
Theres something about Europe that some teams get and others have to learn. It means european form may not be as good as domestic and vice versa. Look at Glasgow, Scarlets Exeter, none have achieved much in the HCup but domestically are very strong, then you have Ulster and Munster who when not doing so well domestically have puched above their weight in HCup. I just dont think have that European know how yet.

Re: Bath Woes
Having watched Tigers appoint an inexperienced ex player as head coach and suffer, I was surprised to see Bath do the same.

Not sure about the Scarlets included in that, Kingshu. When they've done well in the league they've got to the latter stages of Europe. 2007 and 2018.
Better example would be Exeter or the Ospreys.

In fairness when runners up in 2018 they got a semi so maybe should have used Ospreys as an example. , doesn't really effect the point, playing well in Europe is different than domestic some teams take time to learn.

Re: Bath Woes
Problem with Europe is knowing how to play it and also the draw.
Bath have lost to Ulster at home and Quinns away with a points difference of -7. Problem for them is they now have Clermont double header so after two games they are out. If they had had Ulster away and Quinns at home they could now have 5pts.
Bath for the last two years have had a bad start at home to the Cup which has had them on the back foot.

Re: Bath Woes
Nah. Problem for Bath is they are not a good team right now. They stumbled their way into the top tier competition and their inadequacies are then exaggerated.
Leicester are similarly poor, but in the Challenge Cup so facing sides even worse.

Re: Bath Woes
Bath are poorly coached and have been for years.
If Bruce Craig was serious about Bath then he would appoint a proper coach and not an inexperienced wannabe coach.
Plenty of better coaches in the championship and National leagues, all would do a better job than Hooper.
The real problem at Bath is Craig, he has the money but doesn't have a clue on how to spend it and has surrounded himself with clueless yes men.

Re: Bath Woes
Coaching is an issue, but so is recruitment (and injuries). Bath have a pack that is very much lower reaches of the table in quality and really average scrum halves.

Re: Bath Woes
Why did the medical team keep Watson on? - Ugo was questioning that decision on BT seeing as the game was done, just like our season.

Re: Bath Woes
Hooper is the DoR though. Most of the coaching will be done by Dempsey, Hatley and Charteris.

DOR role is BS IMHO.
Players want/need to be coached.
