Who do you support and why?
First topic message reminder :
Seen this done on another sport and thought it might be interesting to see who follows who on the rugby board.
Its a multi option so you can select your favourite Jeff, ML, SUPER15 teams couldn't fit in ALL the Top 14

This is a difficult one for me I follow all the regions but support none of them even though I attend many live matches .
I think of the regions as being feeder clubs to the team that I support Wales,

Re: Who do you support and why?
hmm tricky, I always supported Llanelli rfc as a baby because my dad did, but when I was older and was capable of making my own decisions I watched a game and thought Mike Rayer was amazing so always supported Cardiff. Though as I live in Bridgend Borough I always went to see the Ravens play because they were close so accessable.
When the game went regional I supported Celtic Warriors as they were the Bridgend team, but they closed to I switched to the Ospreys. Though I still like Llanelli and Cardiff to. It seems to put me at odds with a lot of Ospreys supporters because I dont have the hatred for the other teams other supporters have, Ive never really understood it, and have always just been able to enjoy the rugby.
I'm a Ospreys season ticket holder, though I do visit the Scarlets and Blues shops in their stadiums to when I am able.

Bath - because when I was first introduced to rugby at school, our games tutor (RIP RC) always wanted us to "play like Bath", it always seemed odd to me as Leicester seemed more successful at the time, then Bath started winning "everything" and the running ethos clicked.
Connacht - because my Mom's from Galway.

Edinburgh as that is where I stay.
I like the way Leinster play the game so I have a soft spot for them and their fans (even though they, traditionally, give us at least one serious pumping a season)

Leinster because I'm from Leinster. It's that simple for Irish rugby fans. I think Munster have supporters in all the other provinces though. I haven't met a Leinsterman who admits to being a Munster fan (a Lunster) since 2009 though.
I'm not sure if Lunsters are extinct now. If there's any left they should rooted out and denied the right vote in Irish elections, because these dastardly turncoats obviously have no moral fibre whatsoever.

Cardiff Blues.
I started watching Cardiff RFC at the old Arms Park in the mid-1950s when the entrance fee for the terraces was about 2 bob (10p). The Blues don't have the same aura as Cardiff had in the old days, nor the players when you think of Gareth Edwards, Gerald Davies, et al, but I like to support a team I can see in my home city without having to travel. They're still the blue and blacks - except when they wear those awful pink jerseys!

1. Northampton. The Mrs is originally from Daventry and so they were the local team at the time and going on a Saturday afternoon got me out of all manner of boring family activities. Not been to a game since December 2007 (Vs the Pirates) due to living 5000 miles away from Franklin Gardens.
2. Other (Nottingham). Originally from North Nottinghamshire so they are my local team.
Enjoy watching other teams. Leinster, Stormers and Toulouse spring to mind.

England were number three in the list, though it is a surprise as England has such a large fan base, especially of passionate club rugby fans. Just look at their attendances.

Gibbo, if you want you can "cancel" your vote on the poll, then re-vote - you can tick as many options as you like on a "multipoll".

Re: Who do you support and why?
Crusaders for me this year given what theyve been through.
At their usual training yesterday they all went through the next big shake just after training. No home ground all year, playing in Londion as a home match yet still turning out the results speaks for their resolve.
Can't think of anyone who deserves it more this year...

Wasps - (looks like I am the lone 'pest' ). The first place I moved into after leaving the family home was 5 minutes from their old ground in Sudbury. Excellent London Pride in the clubhouse helped
Ealing - I also like to support a more grass roots local'ish team. + there are some damn good pubs in Ealing (certainly better than where I live!).
Scarlets - I've had more meaningful conversations with Scarlets/Llanelli fans than from any other team in Wales.
Some of the others I voted for are for the same reasons as kiwireddevil...teams supported by friends.

Yeah. Yeah... well just yeah. There were a lot of culchie accents, wearing blue shirts, in Lansdowne for the QF & SF. So not sure Feckless. Is Carlow in Leinster? What about Kildare? Or Meath & Louth while yer at it? Still bloody culchies to me, roysh.
But, at least its a day out for them. Specially the Limerick and Cork Leinster fans. Dey can do a bitta shawpin as well as take a big game in.

Re: Who do you support and why?
I voted before I realised I could vote for more than one, so here is how I would have voted.
Northampton, though not remotely from there, I lived there for a few years. It is a great Rugby town, and Keith Barwell is a great owner.
Exeter, because it is the closest I get in the Premeirship to Cornwall. And in Cornwall, I would have voted for Penzance (Cornish Pirates) because I lived with a girl from Penzance for a few years a long, long time ago. She was from a big Cornish Rugby family. I couldn't understand even half of what she said, but I loved her just the same.
I would also support Llanelli, because of the history, Toulon because of the weather, both Italian teams because of the Bunga, Bunga factor, and Brumbies because I lived in Canberra for a while. That team started as a band of rejects and became something special, at least for a while.

Ulster of course - it is where I have lived for a long long time and only missed three home games (including friendlies) in something like 8 years.
After that the 3 other Irish provinces.
A soft spot for Leicester (although not this year ) - my Univesity town and Sarcens because of Mark McCall (one of the games true gents).
No other team invokes any particular interest for me.

My friends got a 6 year old cousin from Gloucester. We took him to his first rugby game at the Welford Road ( this season home draw against ...Gloucester!), bought him a Tigers shirt, got him a front row seat behind the try line (right where the players run up to celebrate) and hooked him up to meet the Tuillagis after. He loved every minute and wants to come back.
You get them young and convert them, way I see it its better than him getting in with a bad crowd and starting on soccer or heroin.

Leinster because thats where I was born and thats where I grew up.
Thats just the way it is.........
Other passing interests
wellington hurricanes due to Christian Cullens sublime skills in his heyday
Scarlets for the fantastic hospitality shown to me (and my mate) by the people of Llanelli a couple of seasons ago.
Clermont/Toulouse for having great fans who like a laugh and are prepared to put up with my broken french and cr@p pronounciation.

I do raise a wry grin when the turks lose tho Don't have any other fave teams from the jeff or abroad. Just like to see some good rugby.

Highlanders/Otago - By accident of birth and being dragged to the Brook by the old man as a preschooler while mom was at housie/bingo.
Would love to support other team but only room for so much pain in ones life. The past 3 weeks been like watching a train crash. Again!

Ah but Super, I have been watching Leinster for nearly 20 years now. Season-ticket holder for the last 5 of them. Not easy for a Dub living in the Dam. All games are away games for moi. Have missed just 2 Heino games in the last 4 years. Home and away.

Leinster - My family is from Ulster but when I started watching rugby I didn't want to support the same team as my brother who is an Ulster fan. I decided on Leinster as my favourite players were playing there and have followed them ever since. My younger brother now supports Munster for the same reason..
