Glasgow and Edinburgh Ongoing Banter Thread 26
First topic message reminder :
A continuation on previous threads discussing the past, the present and the future of Scottish rugby. A dose a day, keeps optimism away
Halfway through a Covid season and not far from the Rainbow cups, both teams are on the precipice of missing out on the top tier in Europe next year. The Rainbow Cup is a well thought out idea of including sides from South Africa, the home to a new Covid variant that vaccines may not work on, with international travel involving several regions of Europe.

Interesting. You may well be right. My sense is that Sutherland was very much third choice and a close call with Healy, but if he was Gatland's second pick then I personally agree. The scrum will be huge, and I just don't trust Mako against the Boks in that department.
What's also interesting is that Warburton reported that Genge wasn't even on the long list. I was surprised by that.

FES, if Farrell is a leader, he certainly didn't show it in the last 6N.
When plan A failed, he led them forwards with Plan A.
High tackle, cheap shot, furrowed eyebrow puzzled look and curt post match interview about how it needs to be better. And repeat.
If he's there for leadership, I hope it's nothing more complicated than Plan A.

He certainly had a poor 6 Nations, but I think the inability to change tactics was more down to his poor form and Jones, rather than his leadership. Martin Johnson was a fine leader, but hardly a man to change the team's tactics on the hoof (see 2000 Calcutta Cup as Exhibit A).
I'm no huge Farrell fan, but he'll certainly be a leader within that group.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh Ongoing Banter Thread 26
I hope you are right FES. (I just can't see it myself) Indon't think his poor recent form or intermittent play in England's second tier are a good cocktail for Lions quality.
If I was any of the other 6N centres that were in contention and missed out, I'd be pretty pee'd off that a player with poor recent form playing in the Championship had been picked ahead of me for the privilege of a Lion's place.
I hope he isn't a liability for us.

All this Scottish Lions +29 Others is all very well but there is a game tonight
Annual Slaughter Of The Effiminates
The Rugby Club
1. Oli Kebble (57)
2. Fraser Brown (106)
3. Zander Fagerson (99)
4. Rob Harley (248)

9. Ali Price (95)
10. Ross Thompson (10)
11. Kyle Steyn (27)
12. Stafford McDowall (24)
13. Nick Grigg (87)
14. Ratu Tagive (22)
15. Cole Forbes (3)

1. Pierre Schoeman CO-CAPTAIN (61)
2. David Cherry (34)
3. WP Nel (153)
4. Jamie Hodgson (20)
5. Grant Gilchrist CO-CAPTAIN (158)
6. Jamie Ritchie (74)
7. Luke Crosbie (55)

20. Mesu Kunavula (9)
21. Charlie Shiel (33)
22. Charlie Savala (1)
23. James Johnstone (62)
Well, form counts for nothing here; which is just as well as neither have any to speak of. Glasgow stank like tigertattie's old socks against Benetton. The Luvvies were unconvincing against whoever they played. At least they're consistent.
The Lord Stafford is back
Forbes continues at 15.
Ratu gets another chance to show he should be there. You have to wonder how many starts he'll get, everyone who coaches him really rates him but he seems unable to string a daisy chain never mind a run of games.
Still, I expect a reaction after the 80 minute car crash that was last time out. I hope the pack beat their opposite numbers like a Lambeg drum in July.
As for the Luvvies I see their Lions (apart from the winger excused defensive duties) are hiding.

I thought Cummings was injured? Evens up the pack a bit.
Looking forward to the game tonight. Lots of young Scots on show. Edinburgh will win, obviously, but probably won't pull away out of sight until the 4th quarter.

Ah Festering One as ever deluded as a socialist in Hartlepool.
The only certainty tonight is that Batman and his capeless crusader will be frothing at the mouth for a good old fashioned square go.
The rugby club by two falls and a submission.

I think the Luvvies are playing into Glasgow's hands. The one out crash ball is what you want when you have spent a fortnight waiting to show that you are up for a bit of physical rugby.

Great game. Real shame about the red. It's killed off the game a bit. Not a great challenge, but I just don't see that as a red, or rather what should constitute a red.
Glasgow seem to have a bit more hunger. As usual, Edinburgh's attacking shape and game plan have been poor.
