Gallagher Premiership 2020/21
First topic message reminder :
That's not a high tackle. Heyes initial contact is the chest. If you're going to review it, review it properly. It's a legal tackle.
How did the assistant miss that the LI player knocks the ball out of JVP's hands and into touch before the Joseph break. It was right in front of him FFS. Lineout Tigers.
Anyway, Tigers blow what should have been a straightforward win and only get 4 instead of 5 points. LI manage to snatch 2 league points with a TBP at the death. Probably a fair result as LI were the better side in the first half but didn't really show up in the second. Hassell-Collins is looking like a really classy player, shame Parton went off.

If that’s the case, then as a Quins fan I am not complaining.
It’s possible that the Chiefs want Cuthbert’s bulk on the wing against Quins’ relatively slight back three - Lynagh, Murley and Green are not the world’s largest players. But equally, having seen Lynagh take down Radradra last week and the tackles Green shrugged off to take his tries, they may be underestimating how strong they are.
Exeter are big favourites to win this, but they will need to keep their error count lower than last week because Quins are in the sort of form to capitalise on any loose ball. Conversely, Quins need to work out what Matthew Carley’s policy is at the breakdown and avoid giving away penalties, even at the cost of giving up ground. A lineout to Exeter in your 22 gives a high probability of conceding a try.

Would be standard logic but Baxter has got a good record with getting the most out of Chiefs players. That back three also worked well last weekend. You'd put money on Hogg coming on with the attitude of "Rob you were wrong, just watch".

Too busy to notice that Esterhuizen is back. I reckon if harlequins are to win he'll be a big part in it.

No. Any centre partner to Basteraud still takes it.

If he's not ring rusty and can keep his elbows down, he has a huge part to play. Squidge's analysis of Exeter identified that their drift defence sometimes leaves gaps between the 12 & 13 channel, and I am hoping to see him exploiting that space.

Gold 10 and 12 with Andre running a hard line, get Slade scampering with Marchant on an arc and the thread a pass between to the blindside winger going straight down the middle?

What an early kick to the corner from Smith. Made it an easy rolling maul option for his side. Penalty try and Johnny Hill in the bin but it could have been any one of three or four Chiefs forwards. Game on.

Both semis were good games (the Quins and Bristol one a classic) this has been end to end from kick off. Great stuff.

Now Smith has shown his. On a Team warning a completely moronic offside, there's no chance that won't be a yellow card. That makes the end to the half very tough for his team.

They certainly don't lack for confidence. That last try showed Dombrandt going to space at real speed. Bloody hell, I hope the upcoming RWC planning has Dombrandt and Sam Simmonds fighting it out for Number 8 with Billy Cheeseburger watching from McDonalds. Perfect time to reinvigorate the squad rather than play the same old, who are now getting old and stale. The energy in both semi-finals and this game is terrific.BigGee wrote:Quins really do want this, don't they

You've got to wonder about that final league game Chiefs Vs Sale. Took Sale's flyhalf and hooker and cost them their best chance at toppling Chiefs. Chiefs lost Skinner and Ewers who they really missed today. When they needed to up the physicality they just couldn't quote bring enough.
There's also been talk of Quins getting a new DOR for next year and at this point you've got to ask why? They should be looking to keep the set up they've got in place, some of them may be in roles they didn't expect but if it works don't mess about with it.

Yes Exeter definitely missed those two.
I think the decision to bench Hogg also backfired. Cuthbert predictably got injured and Hogg showed what he should have been doing from the start once he came on!

Very selective reading of what might have been. Had Hogg been on from the start it’s very likely he what have made one or two of his usual brain farts and conceded a try or two.

I am no fan of Exeter but if they are built on anything it is on standards. Hogg can be brilliant but he can also be absent for long periods which is not what Baxter requires.BigGee wrote:formerly known as Sam wrote:You've got to wonder about that final league game Chiefs Vs Sale. I agree with the standards thing. Had Chiefs won then Nowell was in the chat for man of the match. Cuthbert was used to chase kicks and compete in the air which he did pretty well. What was moronic was keeping the ball on the park when Cuthbert couldn't walk. Cost Chiefs some vital points.
Hogg looked desperate to make a difference when he came on which would have been what Baxter would have wanted.

Wow. What a great game. It was billed as a head to head on a number of positions for England and if so you'd think that Smith, Dombrandt and Mercer have made Jones take notice.
