Re: England v Canada
After all that, they haven't picked Rodd. Persisting with Slade in the midfield is frustrating. I would really liked to have seen what Kelly and Marchant could have done together.
As others have said, the persistence in keeping Ludlow (and captain again no less) is slightly baffling.

Re: England v Canada
i see Quins young flanker Kenningham is out due to covid isolation.
So these will not have been used...
Rodd, Oghre, Munga, Kenningham, Mitchell, Ojomoh, Bassett, George Martin (edit..not in squad)
Paul Hill either but named on the bench so probably will.

Martin not in the squad. Mitchell who knows. The others most likely in the squad for experience/ holding pads. Bassett is more in the journeyman/ reliable back up option I guess (see also McNally and Ludlow)

Re: England v Canada
Kenningham is unfortunate - I think he might have made the bench based on his form and general style of play (quite similar to the Currys)

There might not be quite so much "fair weather" rugby being played on Saturday as there's a high chance of rain at present.
I am expecting a few dropped balls and exasperated players and fans.

Rain, mud, and muck is fair weather Rugby. Playing on that hard ground and dry grass is almost uncivilised.Mr Bounce wrote:There might not be quite so much "fair weather" rugby being played on Saturday as there's a high chance of rain at present.

Re: England v Canada
Two penalties from Ewels already and both completely unnecessary and then Canada score from a scrum penalty where it looked like Canada who had no stability. Odd. Quick thinking from the Canada 9 but you'd expect an international blindside to make that tackle.

Ludlow isn't an international class flanker though Sam. At least the rolling maul is working.

Good lineout drills from England. Getting the props either side of the jumper for the big push as soon as he lands.

Oosh Adam Radwan. Half a gap becomes a massive hole in a second. Classy finish.

Ludlow is in big trouble here. Highly reckless at best.
This will be a good exercise in playing with a man disadvantage
