Having Fat Mike as CEO is certainly an issue for them, Absolute slug. Difficult one for Newcastle…On balance being owned by Saudis or Fat Mike? Quite frankly I’d take the Saudis

The mail on Sunday is declaring working on home being a cause for the Taliban regaining control. While Duncan Smith is rambling on about blitz in comparison to working at home.
They really are pushing it, maybe people don't get as many free newspapers, such as the metro, which just happens to be owned by the same media group as the Mail.

The only Edinburgh Leisure centre I was aware of was Drumbrae, which is a sub human ghetto that not even Benhinho would allow illegal immigrants crossing the channel to be housed

You sure? (Well I suppose you are as you know Edinburgh much better than me) I know I drove through it a few times when I lived in Edinburgh, I thought it was fairly affluent looking from that main road. I’m assuming that there’s pockets of ghettos somewhere in it?

There are certainly worse areas in Edinburgh for sure, bit its not pleasant at Drumbrae, poorly designed, run down estate.
Nothing compared to London or Northern desolation, but not somewhere you want to live.
In cities youre never far from a ghetto. When I lived in Glasgow I was an 8 iron away from the frightful Maryhill.

From what I thought I knew, the Poopie bits of Edinburgh were Pilton & Sitehill, definitely best avoided. When he comes back Dyna ask him if he’s visited the Pubic Triangle, small area between Lothian Road and the Grassmarket famous for erm….dancing of an exotic nature.

Yeah a "law abiding boxing gym owner and nightclub door staff comoany owner" was gunned down at his door.
Guarantee that this terrible stabbing you refer to Mac will be treated differently from Jo Cox. No doubt the likes of Owen Jones, Tash Sarkar and that fat acctress i cant remember tje name of will be publically hoping he dies.

Khan does nothing but blame Tories when policing is his remit. He's so inept he gave Clarissa D1ck a contract extension.
Hes a useless, hopeless man doing a rotten job and all hes succeeded in doing is turn London into a traffic jam whilat he travels 5 miles in his 5 litre Range Rover to walk his dogs with his armed guards. Total and utter hypocrite and a loathesome man.

You have such a clear view all the way from Edinburgh I see. He's very popular in London, certainly more than the previous jelly expert. The Tories are the ones who cut police numbers in London, not him.
By the way who is Clarissa?
Worth pointing out that the head of the Met, currently Cressida Dick, is appointed by the Home Secretary although the mayor has some input.

Sadiq Khan is hardly 'very popular' in London - he got 40% of the vote in a Labour heartland (down from 44% in 2016) and nearly lost to a Tory who got little backing from his own party.

I think in terms of popularity Khan is generally popular, overall first and second round voting was only just down on the last one, and pretty comfortably won. Maybe one day the Conservatives will put up another credible challenger though. Goldsmith and Baily have been atrocious.

Yeah, because only if you live in a place do you ever hear anything about it eh? This isnt Dickensian Britain, we have media which reports from all over the world.
I dont need to live in Afghanistan to know what a mess it is, just like i dont need to live in London to see how Khan is a plank amd doing a bad job

As soneone born and brought up in London, and employed by a London Borough, I have no issues with Khan and don't think he's a plank. But, I get your point as I would much rather Sturgeon as PM over Johnson.
I do find it funny when Khan gets blamed for everything, like he should be sone sort if superman out stopping crime. Unfortunately for him the Met still falls under the home office, and has been impacted by the government cuts as much as all police forces over the last ten years or so.
On the plus, he hasn't pumped money into a bridge that couldn't be built like his predecessor, including 30m from TFL.
But, maybe one day a credible challenger could emerge.

The Met is under the primary control of the Mayor's office for policing but does receive 70% of its funding from central government. The Home Office is the secondary governance.

But we do know that the London police budget dropped in 2013/14 by 340m and stayed at a similar and at times lower amount until 2019 when it went to a similar amount as 2013.
The police, like many public services have been hammered over the past 10 years or so.

You want to endorse ineptitude like Khan, D1ck and Sturgeon because "there's no credible alternative" ?
Sturgeon by the is every bit as useless as Johnson is and just as vile. Horrid, wretched woman.

I voted Khan this time, mainly because I have no issues with him. Not sure if I voted him last time, I was mainly a Lib Dem voter, most other elections, not a fan of Livingstone and Obvs not a fan of Johnson. I'm still probably a lib dem naturally but the last leader really put me off them.

Benares in Mayfair a few years ago probably. I love Indian food and everything Atul Kochhar cooked on great British menu looked delicious so tried it out, very good but obviously over priced.

The most expensive meal I have paid for would probably be one of those taster menus with paired wine affairs.
I am actually not super keen on that sort of wannabe (or actual) michelin star type food. Much prefer to find a small place that does a really good version of a dish it specializes in like Ramen or something.

It's always the booze that makes a meal expensive anyway, while I like a nice Red, I'm no way near enough an expert to go for anything fancy!
Think my choice of a good meal woukd be a tapas bar.

I went to a 'fancy' restaurant many years ago just after me and the other half got together, the food which came in small portions was both bland and expensive. The wine was ok but again overpriced, we ended up in Mcdonalds afterwards.
To the chagrin of S_R I enjoy eating in places like Nandos and Wagamamas. It's nothing special but you know exactly what you're getting and is reasonable enough. Before the pandemic we went to Bella Italia every tuesday for £5 pizza/pasta with a couple of drinks, decent food and didn't break the bank. If someone tastes good it's good irregardless of price.
