Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Saw a story yesterday about a lady whose hand got bitten by a false widow. Did look pretty nasty but then it turns out the story was from 2019! For the sake of f*ck.
She also said she sleeps on the sofa sometimes when she is scared of spiders.
Seems a bright lady as spiders are notorious for not wanted to go in peoples living rooms.

I read a story about a woman whose husband had supposedly died but then he showed up alive a few years later. She was a false widow.

I find that whole story a bit wanting really.
Early spider season here... long hot days ahead. I'll check under the outdoor furniture tomorrow. Remove all the used chewing gum and check for any signs of deadly spiders living there. There's nothing worse than getting bitten by a redback in your groin area when entertaining friends or family.

Classic Pee Jay. Peak Pee Jay in fact.
Did you really need to clarify the groin part?

Need to check the situation first before just sitting down and sliding the chair in under the table. The thought of even one potentially being there freaks me out. The give away are the very fine webs around the legs or armrests of the chairs which sometimes interconnect with the edge or underside of the table.

The give away here is the completely non-lethal little b*stards scuttling across the floor.
Although not in living rooms. You'll never see a UK spider in your living room. Just doesn't happen.

You saw those monsters I posted up here last year? I have those door snakes (l*l) and weather seals on most... but not all of the external doors. Even so there is always a small portion near the bottom of the jamb where there gap is obviously big enough for a huntsman to squeeze through.
The worst fright I've had here in my new place is turning the lights on in the upstairs en suite and seeing a massive huntsman high up in the corner of the room. I have a screen on the only window, so the only possibility is that it came up through the pipes and out of the bath drain? Impossible with those small holes. Otherwise, I shudder at the thought that it came in through the front door, walked down the hall... up the 18 steps, admired the artwork walking along the gallery... did a hard right, then turned left and found paradise in the bathroom.
I trapped and released that one. It went berserk when I got it into the plastic take away container. It was a very energetic creature. Made some decently loud flicking sounds as it carried on protesting. Probably the same one I photographed and then found getting dragged by the wasp or perhaps it was the dried up corpse right out the back near the pool filter box? Or a close relative...

I do remember. Like porn to me so they are in the bank. I talk a good game when it comes to bugs and snakes but only from the comfort of my own UK base. There is nothing here with the potential to really harm me. I might be a bit reticent if I had a massive f*cking huntsman on my pillow. I'd be sleeping on the sofa for sure...
When you say "artwork", do you mean a picture of Crocodile Dundee?
I thought about you the other day, Pee Jay. I didn't read the story but saw some kind of headline about a senior politician in Sydney. There was some rule about not going more than 5km from ones house but he had taken a selfie in front of the Sydney harbour bridge that was more than 5kms from his gaff? Does that ring any bells?
Made me chuckle. Seems like a Dominic Cummings thing to do. Bell end.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
That's our new Premier, Dom Perrottet. Where he was sailing just off Bennelong (Opera House) was definitely more than 5km from where he lives... but within 5km from Parliament - if that helps. Stupid rules here. Especially outdoors or on the harbour.
Ex-PM Abbott has already copped a fine and today they gave the Vic Premier 2 fines for not wearing a mask on 2 separate occasions. It's a bit of a joke when you consider one was at the beach and the other was walking up to the cameras about to talk to the press after taking his mask off in the car park.
A mate of mine travels about 15km by car to his yacht moored west of the bridge. Then does the easterly run out through the heads (and past a pod of whales the other day) drinking beer all the way. They also have a Soup Break out there. Goes up a few beaches to the north... well into the open sea... then turns around and comes all the way back under the bridge again. Takes about 2-3 hours or so. He calls it "exercise". I've been invited to come along but I had a bad experience sailing once so I'm still thinking about that.
We sort of have our 'Freedom Day' this Monday (70% double vax'd) then almost back to normal by about the 25th (80%) Will be 90% by mid November. They've really erred on the side of caution here (which of course made a lot of people whinge) but overall they have opted for 'health over economy' and kept the death toll down. However, with this new Premier he has a more UK/US approach (after most of the hard work has already been done) of opening up and getting things moving again. We'll probably have another wave just in time for The Ashes...
The artwork is a nice print I was given as a gift. It's of a 19th C French sloop or frigate? "Grèce - Sacolève - 1835". I designed a special niche for it.
At the bottom along the sill I've got some polished stones from Birdlings Flat (Canterbury NZ) in crystal vases and some weird Japanese ensemble... looks like a Buddha (or a sumo wrestler) and his equally fat wife with a tiny smiling cat sitting on a special black wooden plinth with a red felt 'rug'. The combination of the three things brings me luck.

I'm off to a wedding shortly. Bride's Nigerian so I expect there'll be a number of smartly dressed and impeccably behaved kids amongst the guests. Dreading arriving with our offspring who'll be dressed like PeeWee Herman and behaving like Peter Sutcliffe.

I don't think they have a house round here anymore. I'm not convinced they ever did as I never saw them despite some serious level stalking. The local paper ran a story on it and her family definitely come from the village next to ours but I'm not sure Bond ever turned up. Mr Dhamasena from the village store claimed he sold him some baking paper once but he also claims that Mick Jagger and Peter Shilton are regulars so I don't know what to believe.
The parents of ex England rugby star Josh Lewsey live round here as well. He doesn't.

I'm really sorry to hear that, nothing leaves you feeling quite so glum and lonely as an unsuccessful stalking. If you like, I could ask Rach the next time

The release of the Pandora Papers meant he had to go off grid for a while.
Of course. Makes sense that both he and rICk have left at the same time.

I believe it was down. Decided to visit the site while standing in the doorway and waiting for my cat to finish inspecting the hallway. Wasn't too impressed to find I couldn't access it and was even less impressed when she seemed to sense this and took far longer than she normally does - 20 minutes for a bit of threshold sniffing and arse-licking (the cat).
