Ouch. Doesn't get better on second viewing either. Think Eddie will get Kinghorn on at half time...?

Think Jones needs to be bold and make subs at half time. Get Randall on get dombrandt on for Simmonds and get Chessum on for Isiekwe move Lawes to lock.

England at the moment have no answer to France playing structure. you might say it is men against boys so far.

Re: France vs England
In my opinion we’re trying too hard to play like France. We’re actually doing pretty well at disrupting their play but then we don’t keep it simple when we run it back.

Should have been a red for the clear out on Genge. It most other stadiums it would have been replayed on the big screens.... not in France though

There looked to be several knock ons there that were worth a look

Re: France vs England
There was a knock on and accidental offside in the lead up to that try but I’ve come to accept there will be match-defining decisions against England every week.

I'd get Dombrandt on for Isiekwe, Lawes to lock. Subbing Simmonds this early with Underhill just back risks losing cover.
Randall for Youngs and Ford for Smith as well for me. I think England need pace at 9 and control at 10 with how brutal France are around the breakdown. Both starting halfbacks have been really poor.

You don't take your best fly half off though when you need to chase the game.king_carlos wrote:No 7&1/2 wrote:Think Jones needs to be bold and make subs at half time. Get Randall on get dombrandt on for Simmonds and get Chessum on for Isiekwe move Lawes to lock.

And Nowell should have seen yellow and the one england turnover was hands on the ground.
it all evens out ( usually :-) )

Tbf most for the turnovers have been hands on the floor. If the ref accepts that you play to it.TJ wrote:And Nowell should have seen yellow and the one england turnover was hands on the ground.

Seems the SH refs have an unusual interpretation ...

When his contribution has largely been taking it to the line regardless of others being in more space and a kick that makes 2022 Finn Russell look like Dan Carter had a baby with Wilkinson yon can.
I rate Smith and want him starting but he's still on a learning curve and has been poor.
Hopefully he can play to closer to his ability in the second half.

Its our only hope with the backline as it is. Hopefully some pushover tries too!king_carlos wrote:No 7&1/2 wrote:You don't take your best fly half off though when you need to chase the game.king_carlos wrote:No 7&1/2 wrote:Think Jones needs to be bold and make subs at half time. Great opportunity. Terrible touch finder. Poor lineout drill. No go forward against a set defence.
Sums up the tournament in many ways.

Classy from Marchant and then we actually hit some offensive rucks. Neat finish by Steward to finish it off.

Beautiful box kick from Youngs and Jaminet gets dumped into touch. Maybe that try is the confidence booster we need.

4 good things on the bounce. Try, conversion, kick chase, lineout.
Just keep building that momentum.

Re: France vs England
The nside ball can be a weapon but can't be that telegraphed.
Running an inside ball like that is just sending a runner into the drifting pillar from the previous ruck. That's u14s playing touch in the warmup type rugby. Abject.
