Tough ask for Jordan to go 16, 18, 20. They do have an over in the bank though, thanks to Stokes/LL bowling 5.

Oh Kohli was lucky then...that looked dead live ...but just umpire's call so he survived. Could be a big moment...

Good for England after 16...but this last four can be Game changing...
Two well set bats ; a wicket now would be huge.

Really good fightback from Curran and Jordan in those two overs, after tough starts. That shows tremendous resilience.
And Kohli out on the last ball may be a bonus, let's see what Pant can do.

Fifty and out for Kohli
Jordan copped some stick that over , but got the wicket. Curran now ; then who bowls the last ?

Yes, I'll lay off Chris Jordan there. 7 wickets in hand and last 3 overs, India had to get going. 1 for 15 is not terrible in those circumstances

Hardik really has turned this for India, without his innings they would not be looking at much more than 140 - 145. Excellent from him.

England just losing their way under the onslaught, this is where they really miss Jofra or Wood.
And then a disappointing effort from Stokes in the deep. Looking like 170+. Eek.
I'd bowl Woakes for the last.

Re: 2022 T20 World Cup thread
Pandya has been brilliant for India
Going to be the difference between under-par and quite good... Very hard to stop a batsman like him at this stage. And that over from Curran has really been clobbered !
A lot of good England work getting undone late...

Re: 2022 T20 World Cup thread
This was always likely to happen with the short square boundaries at some point. 170 is still a decent effort from England - nothing much in it for the seamers, it will come down to how they play the spin. Thank God India still block it for the first 10…

Noble from Pant. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Kohli was on strike with Pandya charging down at him!

169 to win, decent score, but Kohli and Pandya showing it might not be a bad one to score on

Re: 2022 T20 World Cup thread
This is a very defendable total for India, very defendable.
Hardik, as good as his innings has been has also shown that this track can be bullied by some decent attacking strokes.
I was hoping for a score under 160 as I think India's bowling attack is superior but England can still do this.
50:50 to me at the halfway stage.

Decent effort from England that - fantastic work from Pandya to get India to around, or just slightly above par - but if you'd have said 169 to win post toss, definitely would have taken that. As JDizzle says, going to come down to how we play Bhuvi up front, then spin in the middle

Re: 2022 T20 World Cup thread
168. Jordan didn't bowl that last over well, was fortunate to get out of it with just 12 conceded!
Excellent innings from Pandya, someone from England will have to emulate him. And Kohli was once again the glue.
England had a good first 16, but 58 off the last four may prove to be the difference. Rashid and Livingstone were superb, India may regret not picking Chahal.
India favourites, but England have got the quality to chase this.

Re: 2022 T20 World Cup thread
Spectacular death batting from Pandya ; but this is a decent pitch for batting so I'm calling that par or marginally over. Obviously England wish they had kept it to the 155 or so that looked likely for much of the innings ; but the opponent is allowed to play well sometimes ...
If they bat to their best , they can get this. Whether they will or not , we will see.

England just need to get their tempo right. They flapped about vs Ireland and Afghanistan despite having a wickets in hand - use your resources and go down swinging. And try to break the back of the chase in the PP like they did vs SL.
Already some cat and mouse with Buttler walking down and now Pant up to the stumps.

Made me chuckle how the commentator called that 'mind games'. Buttler comes down to negate the swing, keeper comes up to stop him. Happens in 1000's of village cricket games all summer, every year, but in a WC semi-final, it is 'mind games'.

England may not win this game - but surely India watch this and go why don’t we show this intent in the PP as well as battering it at the death?

Lolz, Pandya trying to rev up the fairweather 'supporters'. Reminds me of Alex Ferguson trying to get some noise from the United fans when they played Madrid in 2013.
Superb PowerPlay from Buttler and Hales. Any fraction of width and they destroyed it.

If they do lose a wicket, no excuse for whoever comes in to not attack from ball one - we have Sam Curran carded to come in at 8, and Chris Jordan at 10! Keep attacking, don't let it get late in the game and give Bhuvi a chance at the death

He is the greatest white ball anchor in the world - it is weird to call him an "anchor" but that is the role he plays opening in t20s!
This is brutal. Just brutal from England.
