100% red card. Really quite a dirty bit of play that.
Game is still very much on for now. Whether SA can keep up this intensity a man down will be the question.

Be interesting to see what call this is. SA have done well with 14 men.

France need to be careful they don't end up down to 13 with all these red zone pens

Don't know why all the French fans are whistling and booing ... no contentious calls there

Well it was the wrong call by Barnes but France are the architects of their own demise

Making up for it now with the YC? France gave away a bucket load of pens in the red zone without a card ...

Close one, but I think the call was the correct.
Not sure about this France try, looks like he moved 3 times on the floor.

How is that not a double movement?

French director is drunk - some weird and wonderful camera angles being chosen!
What did the cameraman do to Barnes..?

I think he caught Barnes at a bad angle, making him look like he's balding.

Re: Sa v France
Some conetnions calls by Barnes in the late stages of the game. First the triple movement for the try ignored, a scrum call that he made up, and then Moefana taking the ball illegally as he was offside.

Not sure about that pass called forward either - although that must have come from the AR ...

Re: Sa v France
Time for Barnes to retire? Farcical decisions at the end of the game. When will World Rugby do something about the standard of refereeing at the top level? I can just about tolerate the expectation that Premiership and URC games will often be decided at the whim of a clearly sub-standard referee, but how does this keep happening at international level where games are often decided by fine margins? With access to a TMO and technology, apparently. Whenever the issue is raised it seems to be shot down by apologists conferring some sort of divine status on referees and their decisions, that dare not be questioned. These are well-paid professionals. Surely the standard should be better? Should they not be held to account for poor performances? Should the laws perhaps be simplified with a view to allowing a better standard of accuracy in officiating?

Re: Sa v France
SA seemed to raise their intensity this weekend and France looked pretty battered by the end of the game.
SA dont seem to be getting many of the 50/50 calls either, although their turn will probably come at Twickenham....

It was fairly marginal but I can see why Barnes thought it was forward, if you use the linesman as a reference Le Roux threw the pass before the linesman and it was caught past him. I dont think the momentum arguement is that convincing either as Le Roux was kind of moving sideways. It was a fairly marginal call, maybe a bit harsh but not outrageous.
Thought the try might have been double movement though and SA were on the right side of some close calls too. I see Rassie has tweeted about the forward pass and an elbow to Kolbe. He does come across as a bit of a sore loser at this stage.

Best ref in the world. Surely its time for some of the SA players to retire first as they made plenty of errors. They're well paid professionals, maybe they just need simplified instructions from their coaches?

Disappointed with the result. But encouraged by the approach to playing with ball in hand.

Yeah I would almost say SA have more to be happy about than France. A bit unlucky with the double movement try and did very well to stay in the fight with a man down for almost half the game. France are a very good side and the match was in Paris so thats a big challenge for any team at the moment. SA showed some good stuff notably an improvement in the maul and attack.
It wasnt France's best performance but I think they will be reasonably happy with a win against a side they tend to struggle against.
I think its also fair to say based on the summer tours and November internationals that France, SA, Ireland and NZ lead the way at the moment without much between them and there is plenty of time over the next 12 months for change to the pecking order.

Re: Sa v France
Yes, Boks showed guts and resilience, but then it has been that way for the past two seasons, they have only had one blow out loss in the last two seasons, but they need to be concrened about the number of close losses they have had.
They have had 8 close losses since 2021 and half of those they were leading with ten to go.
