Looks very similar to Saints from two years ago. Just too frantic. Need a better balance, knowing when to turn it on and when not to. And especially problematic because most players out there don't play that way. Losing Mitchell shows up clearly here.mountain man wrote:England I think are looking to play, issue is handling errors are killing them. However, cannot fault ambition. Tighten up and it'll come.
As much as I am not remotely a Spencer fan, I think it's time to sit Care.

Very nice try from Furbank, one of Englands better trys in recent years.

And another thing, the referee is giving both teams far too much time after calling 'use it'

That was catchable. Should be catchable at this level. Second Furbank drop in quick succession. He's been poor so far.
He's under pressure at the line, it's a bit sloppy but there's no excuse for not catching it. It's head height and he's an international back. He dropped one in the last attack as well which was in the bread basket.
England are playing aggressively at the gain line. Cohesion isn't quite there. When it clicked then we scored.
Just seen the replay and it's in front of him and at head height. Furbank is nowhere near a Scottish player. The pass goes through his hands hits his head and bounces forward to Jones to set up the vdM score.
The knock on before is bread basket but delayed and close to the line. It's a pressure take but he's supposed to be an international fullback.
Hands just need to be better.

Re: Scotland vs England | The Calcutta Cup
An odd but exciting half. All England for 15 minutes, then they s**t the bed for 20 minutes and Scotland took advantage very well. Their outside backs are lethal.
England have generally been disrupting the Scotland lineout well but haven't seemed to respond by trying to get the ball out of play when they are getting anywhere. Hopefully that gets remedied at half time.
I'd get Spencer on. Care has been poor.
This game should suit Martin and CCS well coming off the bench. England will need their impact. They're trying to play but at times have forced it by playing wide through Ford when they don't have momentum from successful forward carries off 9 first.

Catching the ball and falling over the line.
It's a really nice set play and the backs all just hit their lines perfectly. Ben White is on the wrong side of the scrum. Nice to see a England striker play in the backs come off.

Earls been really poor after the big up prior. Get him to 7 and C-S on. Bit more carrying.

It's Brace. In terms of quality he's right up there with Tesco Value Lager.

That weapons grade dogs**t from Care. Runs an unnecessary phase that gives him a worse angle then basically kicks it out sideways. Today has been like watching a video essay in why Care has struggled as an international starter, sadly.

Hilarious. Jonker trying to get Genge penalised for knocking his own player.
Three points does little for England here.

Genge quite lucky that it's his own player there cos thats just a shoulder, if that was a Scotland player then he's in trouble.
Re: Scotland vs England | The Calcutta Cup
Ha! Jonker calls review but was on own player but Owens arguing it's still foul play.
Seriously does anyone think not biased?

Individual errors. The defence has been rushing Scotland and limiting their ability to play through the phases. The kick chase through on Redpath was farcical.

The laws of our game are silly. The fact that someone is committing foul play should determine the punishment. Not whether or not they are incompetent at foul play

Helps drive his own player drive over the Scottish player cynically killing the ball at the breakdown.

you cannot legislate for so many individual errors.....Scotland in danger of pulling away here with comfort. Yet again zero threat from England's back apart from the first try

Why does Cole always seem to be bleeding on the top of his head? Every game, does he cut it before the game to look even more menacing? Kind of a latter day version of Borthwick's nose.
