In praise of Canadian 70s & 80s rock...
Just been re-visiting some of the criminally under-rated Canadian rock acts from this era. Holy c**p. Forgot just how good Triumph, April Wine and (of course) Rush were. Play it loud...

it goes without saying how good Rush are- but don't know those other acts you mention, Triumph and April Wine.
I think The Band are one of the most important acts in rock n roll, their second self-titled album is flawless. When you also factor in Cohen, Young and Mitchell, that's pretty much the story of two decades of contemporary music history right there.
I'm not a great fan of Arcade Fire, but they no doubt touch a nerve with a lot of people; Neko Case I heard on 6 Music a few years ago and they were great. And back in the day, there were the Cowboy Junkies who are well worth a revisit
