Nolan to sign for West Ham for £1.5m
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13781218.stm
I am shocked but delighted!
The price is so low, and we'll get many times that back for Parker (probably on his way now, for sure).
He scores goals, and has done it in the Championship as well as the Prem. Quality signing for me.
Thoughts from Hammers/Newcastle fans, and the rest of you?

Re: Nolan to sign for West Ham for £1.5m
The fee will be larger than £1.5m- we rejected that earlier in the week because it was derisory.
Not too upset to see him leave, was never as good after Carroll left. Don't think the board could do much with him, Barton and Jose if they don't want to sign what's on offer. I dread to think of the wages he'll be on if you don't come straight back up (He wanted more money from us and he was on £50k!). Will do really well for you in the Championship though.

That's a quality signing for West Ham.
Something seems to going on at Newcastle though, with the whole Hughton sacking and now selling off some of their best assests, it seems a bit dodgy to me.

Leak, I wouldn't call Nolan one of our best assets. He, Barton and Enrique are refusing to sign the contracts offered and would not be as committed next season- best to sell this season and get a fee than lose for nothing next year.

Ahhh fair enough, I didn't know about the contract situation.
I'd say, looking in from outside of the club, that Nolan, Barton, Enrique and Jonas were all pretty key to your team, of course you know better than me being a fan and all.

A top top signing, shocked Newcastle are letting him go and even more surprised he's not staying in the Premiership, not many Championship teams will sign a midfielder whn bagged 13 EPL goals last season, he got around 30 in the last two seasons, Newcastle will miss him

It's a really good signing for West Ham, Big Sam seems to be rearing them up for a good promotion challenge this year. Just the man they need with Scott Parker presumably leaving.

Barton and Nolan were more key when we had Carroll upfront, and Barton kept up his form after he left. But he's came across as a prat on Twitter and supposedly bad-mouthed those in charge at talk-ins.
I thought if we lost Nolan it would be to someone just coming up to the Prem, but maybe he fancies bringing West Ham up like he did with us.
I'd say it's more key to us to keep Tiote and Coloccini, I'd love Jose to stay but I think he's off.

Demba Ba supposedly and Pardew says he expects to sign two more in the next fortnight. Guessing one is Neil Taylor and the other is being reported as Erdinc.

I have to say for me Nolan is more influential OFF the pitch keeping the team spirit going....and i guess leadership on thie pitch..
I think with Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Gossling, we have decided his wages dont cover what he does on the pitch. ...and these are creative...goal scoring players also, who would i expect to match the 12 goals he scored.
Looks like barton and Enrique will follow...but again i feel barton is being unprofessional with his tweets...so jog on Joey...
Its strikers we need badly....

Im not so sure its unprofessional, more frustrating for Barton, it looks like Newcastle are asset stripping and if thats the case then good on Joey for speaking up

I actually disagree Gaffer...
We are trying to move on from where we are...
We have some quality in there like Ben Arfa, have added cabaye who looks a cracking buy, and are linked with a number of real quality players.
The biggest difference is that we are active so quickly in the summer...which surely is a sign that we actually mean business.
That shoud be a signal. But if hes not happy then he can move on....

I think with the Carroll money then it was expected Newcastle would be active but there seems to be more noises of leaving than joining, its to early in the Summer I suppose to really know but I hope come the close of the window the team is far stronger than it is now

For the first time in a long while im (quietly of course) confident that will have a good number of quality additions to the team and squad, mixed with the youngsters we have coming through come the start of the season...

Re: Nolan to sign for West Ham for £1.5m
more inclined to agree with you gaffer, no matter how you put it across nolan was a well experieneced midfileder who has proven he can cut it at prem level. added to that he has the knack of chipping in goals for a team that looks to have a total lack of strikers is dangerous. i heard you signed someone from french league you just have to hope he cuts it in the prem.
enrique was for me from what i saw your best player last season and sounds like he off. dont think you would miss barton too much dont particually rate him although would take his twitter as a pinch of salt as think he's friends with nolan so will be disappointed. some of the things he's said are also true but not his place to say.
your really relying and bringing new players in and hoping they settle straight away at the moment, even ben afra has only had half a season and was very inconsistant in france hence whys he's at you and not a top four team (no offence intended). the biggest signng you still need to make is a top class striker, question is, is ashley willing to pay for one?

Re: Nolan to sign for West Ham for £1.5m
Looking like Pardew will be out to spend, he says he wants to bring in 6 new players. One is already through the door, another is N.Taylor and possibly Ba.
When Ben Arfa played for us last season he gave us a spark which most fans will agree we missed in some games. Only 2 goals since Carroll departed though, and Pardew looks to be wanting to be playing a more technical game next season- not so much hoof and pick up the scraps, despite this winning us some crucial points.
