No, i have a brain though, and when quatar who cant play football, and you won't be able to drink, ie the fans there at a major tournament, get picked over the USA, who can play football and have a normal rules for fans, i think that;s corrupt. They bought the world cup as well, that's ermmmm corrupt to me. Back to the boxing though, i agree someone should stop them, don't need fifa though, lets keep the sport clean from fat idiots who've never played the game but run it, ie warner, blatter, etc.

I wont lie to you buddy. I couldn't make heads or tails of that one.

I'm not starting an argument based on religion here, I'm just stating that Holyfield will state every time that the path that is set for him was chosen by God. B. Quit boxing

I'll second that, he has made over $150 million in his life as well, could buy and sell any of us 200 times over, the only people i feel sorry for are the idiots who need help and gee him up saying he can be world champ, ie his trainers.

I cannot see how in a modern sport that there isn't a global governing body that can lay down some ground rules for all countries to adhere to, to prevent fighters such as Holyfield and Jones Jr risking further damage to their health. Will it take the death of a fighter in a fragile health state to ensure stricter rules to obtaining a licence to fight for fighters in the future?

Hard isn't it though...Hoppo is dominating past 45.....There are still heavyweights out there who Holy could beat half his age!!!! Should they be allowed to fight???

Where does restraint of trade stop and good regulating begins...

Stop Hoppo fighting because of his age even though he's trashing everybody???

I do see the difficulty, but such the risks in that exist in boxing I think there should be something in place. Like you say boxing is a drug and even though the payday's for big fights are massive, there is a thrill for boxers who love to compete. Very gladitorial. I wonder how many amateur boxers fight well past their peak ages?

Thing is one guy may show more brain damage a la Meldrick Taylor at 28..than a Hoppo or Foreman at 45.....

Unless they regulate by age which seems unfair I don't know how they can stop people like Holy and Jones fighting ?? unless tests show advanced brain trauma etc.....

It is tough indeed. I for one don't want to see any age discrimination in any sport, but it is difficult when one boxing authority say 'no' he isn't healthy enough to fight and yet another boxing authority in a different country say otherwise. I think their needs to be some calaboration between boxing authorities regarding fighters health and well being.

Orr i know yeah, i must be a kid because i find it crazy that Jones Jr and Holyfield think they can be world champions again. You mention Hopkins saying he's 45 and a world champ, he hasn't been battered in his career, a prime Jones was twice the fighter he was and took him to school, now look at where they are, time to hang em up.

Personally i find that all his knockouts seem to be good ones. People like to see people get knocked out.

Plus his delusional stance on his current ability is entertaining.

Are you serious? Nothing wrong with seeing a good knockout, but with Jones it's become the norm to EXPECT to see him face down before the final bell.

Which is why hes so in demand, always a knockout with Roy especially as he insists at fighting at cruiser these days. Hes always so stiff after aswell which makes it all the more brutal. Looked like he had died against Lebedev.

I'm talking demand from fans and where there is still demand from fans he will get these fights. A lot of people enjoy watching Jones try to box these days only for it to end in the inevitable knockout.

Is that genuine? I wouldn't say that's so much a sign of brain damage as slurring is though. More like he just got a little tongue-tied.

As for fans wanting to see the nigh-on inevitable KO whenever Jones fights now though; I wouldn't call anyone with that mentality a fan.

I wouldn't either. I don't like Jones though, i remember him crying to the ref and moaning in the Calzaghe fight because Joe was showboating when he'd done it all his career, a bit daft that imo.

I must be honest, because i believe it important to my point, i actually enjoy watching the tarver johnson etc bouts again and again. sometimes i even laugh.

Like I said Towzer, I'm not against watching KOs in general, because they're part and parcel of the sport, but as has been mentioned, when watching Jones it seems the KO is inevitable. That just doesn't interest me. I find myself instead watching in the hope that he'll last the distance. It's like the Enzo Macc KOs; each more brutal than the last, to the point where they become more of a detriment to the sport than a selling point.

Funny how? He aged, his reflexes slowed, and his chin was found to be not made of the sternest stuff. Perhaps if people landed on it with greater regularity earlier in his career it wouldn't have come as such a surprise. Didn't Nazim Richardson say something to the effect that Jones has never had a great chin, it's just that he never used to get clocked that much.

Its funny because so many people saw him as an flawless unbeatable boxing god. The amount of fantasy fights this man use to win was unmeasurable. Then from nowhere everyone started knocking him out. Now his delusion is even more laughable. He wanted to fight haye if he got by lebedev.

The final punch in the Pacquiao/Hatton fight left me breathless, it was just pure power that came from a perfectly thrown punch or the combo that Hamed used to finish Sanchez off but that's combined with seeing a guy left lying on the floor wondering if he's ok. Conflicting sport is boxing

Couldn't agree more. I must admit I don't like to see the winner celebrating too much after a KO, sometimes. Much prefer to see a guy showing concern for his opponent before his own success.

That doesn't bother me too much, in the heat of the moment with the adrenaline pumping your not going to be thinking clearly so it's only natural to lose yourself a bit, when order is restored that's when I expect to see a bit of concern

Anyway - back to the topic at hand - a global governing body would be an ideal dream - but given that's not going to happen - if the public refuse to tune in, pay the ppvs, turn up - they'd have to stop due to absence of funds - they're their own promoters anyway.
