a professional tournament where all the players
use a set of bog-standard, off the shelf clubs.

I'm pretty certain you would seem some strange results.

Maybe on Day 1 its Titleist - Day 2 its Callaway - Day 3 its Mizuno - Day 4 its Taylormade

Nice idea for a charity tournament as well.
Get 24 sets of clubs from the above companies.
Then get 24 tour players to participate
Every day the players draw lots for golf sets

At the end of the tournament the clubs are auctioned off for charity

Brontys, Castles, Pinseekers and Forgans. Sod the auction.

I have a set of Forgans that I would gladly donate. They are an inch long, so would suit some short a**e down to the ground - always best if they reach the ground!

I found a set of clubs in a charity furniture shop when I was looking for something. They were from 1952 or something. I would like to see them use those, they coulkd have a club each. The two iron looked scary.......
