Wimbledon Day 3
Morning Tennis Fans,
Lots of criticism aimed at Wimbledon organisers as Murray will be on Court 1 and not Centre Court with rain forecasted. Nadal is in action as is Venus Williams. Berdych, Del Potro and Gasquet also in action. Watson and Keothavong in action for British interest today.
Interesting Jimmy Connors backs Isner to put in a performance at Wimbledon? Partisan vote there

Murray can't have centre court everytime though, can he?
I'm looking forward to today, a fair bit of British interest going on as well. Very interested to see how Del Potro goes. Can't wait for the days action

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
Well if Murray was to be hampered by rain delays, you can imagine the press having a field day with it.
I am certainly watching with great interest today.

LK
I thnk McEnroe predicted a good performance from Isner last Wimbledon - obviously the Mahut epic derailed that chance, but he is at least potentially dangerous on grass and not solely a partisan vote.
It is interesting that Andy is scheduled only second on Court 1 (after Berdych v Benneteau, which could be fairly competetive) - if the weather stays dry, he might be starting any time between about 3pm and 4.30pm, although the forecast (on the BBC anyway) suggests a chance of some showers early afternoon and shows a rather unpleasant blue splodge a few miles further west for much of the afternoon.

It is absolutely bucketing down here. Hoping it doesn't spread 50 miles north!

Legend i feel connors could be right there, i mean he took rafa to five sets in the FO and led 2 - 1 at one stage. i think they said the other night that isner is the only man to have taken rafa to five sets at the FO

Williams not sure the clobber she has on, but she is getting clobbered out in Centre Court. 2 breaks down in the first in 9 minutes.

Date Krum takes the first set after what can only be described as kit kat tennis due to the amount of breaks of serve in it. Fascinating to watch.

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
great match to watch, and Date-Krumm showed some great guts to still manage to win that set after being 5-1 up, and then also 6-2 in the TB and blowing both leads...

Venus levels at one set all, so we'll have a decider. It's been a great match, Venus showing no signs of rustiness today!

Something has got to be said about Venus Williams. This screaming is disgusting, off putting, not necessary and is only being done to put her oppanant off. I really hope she looses this match.

this is as good a match I've seen in women's tennis for a very very long time, 6-6 in the third

Don't know what you are watching it or listening to it on but Date-Krum is doing her fair share of grunting albeit on a reduced noise level

She is nowhere near as loud as Venus. I really hate players that scream like that.

An absolutely absorbing match but somewhat tainted by the deliberate screaming.

Watson breezes through the first set. Superb stuff from the youngster. Saved some break points and hasn't looked back. Looking solid.

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
This is the sort of game that Watson should win comfortably if she is to make it to the very top of the women's game, and so far she's in complete control. When was the last time we had (at least) THREE British women in the second round of a GS?

Watson's defence is brilliant. Only criticism is that her FH keeps breaking down in points.

Johansson looks fried. Not sure how she has squandered the set from the position she was in. Are we seeing Berrer mark 2?

Heather slowing down her serve, understandibly and Johansson is all over it. If I was Johansson's coach I would throw my notice in disgust. Why on earth is she going to the BH??

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
Johansson, it is stupidity. You have a hampered opponent and she still serves to the BH. Take speed off the serve and go to the FH. Heather breaks back. Luckily for Heather she is playing someone of a low intillect. I cannot hide my disgust!

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
Unbeleivably poor play from Johansson there, who makes four straight errors and gifts the break away; Now, can Heather hold?

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
I don't think Heather can hold MFC. What is in her favour is the garbage being returned from the opponent might be enough to see her through.

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
I cannot see how Johansson is ranked 70 in the world!! Beggers belief. I think Heather should call it a day. She is hampered and cannot follow through on the serve or forehand.

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
Sweeting seems a bit dense. If he thinks he's gonna win the majority of the points from the baseline against Rafa, he's got another thing coming.
He's had so many opportunities to finish off points at the net, yet he stays back.

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
Johansson is feeling generous today. Gifting the errors. It is hard to understand the mindset of this lady. Heather is a break up in the 3rd. I can see why she is out there, because the handshake is like a genius giving their spot in Mensa to the mentally challenged.

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
BBC have brought out the big guns for this one with Becker and Henman in commentary. Murray challenges the first serve and it was right it was out. Some sloppy serving from Kamke and Murray plays some decent groundstokes and works Kamke around the court forcing the error. Break point Murray. Another DF and game Murray.

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
Murray to serve and he starts with a serve out wide followed by a FH up the line and then un-returned first serve by Kamke. Murray finding his first serves and another one and some beautiful net play from Murray. Kamke shows its his turn to show us what he can do and returns Murray's first serve and bang BH and FH winner. Kamke then nets a Murray 2nd serve.

Re: Wimbledon Day 3
Kamke serving and I am amazed how far out of court he is positioning himself to take the ball on. Still Kamke takes the first point after some great retrieval work and then DF's again. 3 already. Kamke then goes long on a BH. Murray goes long on a BH slice. Murray's length has been great from the getgo. His variation is proving too much for Kamke already. Another break point for Murray. Murray netting a BH of the 2nd serve. Wasteful. Great stuff from Kamke there coming in behind his second serve and getting at the net. Murray nets a BH slice and Kamke gets his first game.
