Most heartbreaking match?
First topic message reminder :
I realise that its a very subjective category, with one fans heartbreak being another's joy. Being a Scotland fan, heartbreak is never far away...
The match that stands out most, and the one I still wake up in the middle of the night with a cold sweat..., has to be the Wales V Scotland match in 2010. Chris Patterson limping off on his 100th cap, Thom Evans lying prone on the pitch following his horrific collision. Despite this Scotland managing to score tries, only for everything to cruelly unravel in the final 20. Cumulating in Scotland ending the match with 13 men, before THAT try from Shane Williams
Scotland-South Africa 2008, trailing the World Champions by 4 points with time fast ticking away. A bloodied and bandaged Phil Godman lines up a penalty from inside the 22 to make it a 1 point game. He sends it wide, the Boks sneak home. (this picture sums up the feeling at Murrayfield that day).

Other notable heartbreaking matches for me include the Ireland-France game from 2007 with Clerc's last minute try. And the Blues-Leicester drop goal semi final shoot out.
Anyhow, I throw this one open to the V2 community, what is the most heartbreaking match for you?

Tough year for your lot that year, plus the cricket earlier Gibbs dropped catch and Donald's run no run run!!!!
Hey had your revenge since though huh??
You keep on reminding me mate, it seems you are getting a lot of satisfaction from that.

I have still not recovered from the shock of the Scotland V Wales game. It definitely has to go down as one of the most dramatic games of all time.

1995 RWC Semi Final
I was young and naive and even though we had some narrow wins in the pool stages. I was buzzing with innocent excitement from the moment we beat beat OZ in the 1/4's, I really beleived we could beat NZ................until after about 10mins of the match.
Jonah Lomu and his 14 buddies broke my heart and left me in tears

Re: Most heartbreaking match?
The 1995 RWC QF England 25 v Australia 22 sticks in my mind more than 2003 Final loss for some reason. Maybe because England were at the top of their game in the long lead up to RWC 2003...it was almost written by the rugby gods that this was their time.
All of those close 1,2 or 3 point BC losses to NZ over the years, you know... the 12-11, 18-16, 11-10, 26-23s...(forget the exact scores but it felt like there were so many of them!) hurt more than the infamous 61-22 shellacking from the Boks and the 49-10? mauling by the ABs.
They were just simply embarassing!

Re: Most heartbreaking match?
Definately the dreaded (for England fans anyways) 1999 game v Wales at Wembley. Total despair and a state of shock as Gibbs skipped over the line at the death I remember thinking its in the bag when the 3rd try went over and cue me do a SCW style handing out victory caps to my mates! But stupid Neil Jenkins kept robotically kicking pens until.....well y'know.
Even more gauling was, in the bar that night, loads of Scots celebrating the title even though half of them hadn't watched or knew the game had took place

Re: Most heartbreaking match?
Most England/Scotland games are heart-breaking. As an England fan even if we win, the rugby played is normally heart-breakingly bad by both sides.
Hope it's a cracker in the world cup. With us winning obviously.
