The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Micky - too true. To be fair, even the most gopping shirts look amazing on the right players
Staggy - I reckon Wally will end up on the telly like his bro. He's got the bod and the knowledge for it. It'll be like topless darts only more interesting...

Cari, all 4 quarter finals are on the same day. At least two of them will be in Croke Park( more than likely anyway) so you should see plenty of action.

Your good at painting
I do want to get an Irish kit for the World Cup. I only have a jersey I bought in 2002 but its a training/away jersey and its navy. Also (and this is gonna sound really weird) but the IRFU logo on it is sharp and coarse and if I wear it without a tshirt on underneath it really hurts my nipple

I'll be getting that one Staggy, I love the crest on it, has a retro look about it, and that's all the rage with the young kids these days or so I'm told

Have a read through this Irish posters and some of the comments. Interesting to see what the Aussie supporters and press think of our "challenge".
Hughie,
I really like that jersey. If I ever get money again, I'll buy that.

I can't reconcile the Flip petty cash sheet
I am not having a good morning. I only have to do this once every 4 months or so, so every time I forget how it's done. I'm missing something obvious I know, but I just can't see it! Bah.
And morning all, please excuse my rant, I'm sure I'll cheer up later on when the tennis starts. Fingers crossed the first semi-final takes ages so I can make it back home to watch the Murray match!

also, I really like that Irish rugby shirt.
I like the new Welsh one as well actually, much better than last seasons, reckon I'll actually fork money out for the new one.

It's alright though Hughie as it means not too many people are seeing us as some sort of dark horses like 2007. Our plan moves forward!

Why is 'dark horse' used to mean someone who's an outside bet? Aren't the majority of racehorses dark?

One of England's most distinguished prime ministers, Disraeli was also a noted novelist and poet. In the second book of his three-volume novel The Young Duke
Disraeli has his main character, the Duke of St. James, attend a horse race that has a surprise finish: "A dark horse which had never been thought of, and which the careless St. James had never even observed in the list, rushed past the grandstand in sweeping triumph."
In this context, a "dark horse" doesn't have to be dark in colour. The word "dark" here means "secret" — the trainer of the horse keeps the potential of the horse a secret. Everyone is kept in the dark about the capability of the horse

I went to a cemetery yesterday to lay some flowers on a grave. As i was standing there i noticed 4 grave diggers walking without a coffin, and 3 hours later they're still walking about with it. I thought to myself they've lost the plot!!!

To be honest, I think Wilde or Swift would have had more fun with his name anyway but still, at least he got some sort of cultural reference in there to show he knows something about Ireland, even if it isn't the rugby team.

Rodders,
I've replied on that article but to be honest, in a way, it's a good thing we are underestimated like that. I don't think the Australian coaching staff or team will think like that, but interesting to note the fans, who do have an effect on the team's mentality.

I think we have ourselves to blame though a bit though. I mean at the end of the day the SH teams don't give a monkeys about the 6N or HEC cup. Ultimately until we beat these teams down there where there are no excuses we aren't going to be held in the same regard as France or England in the SH no matter how we go up here.
There's only one way to squeeze some begrudging respect out of the SH and thats to beat them on their own turf, even then we probably won't get much of it.
Thats good though if we use that to motivate us.

Micky, you see the way that Rodders quoted me and wrote +1 as a means of showing agreement. This seems to be a recent enough thing on 606 but I've seen it used somewhere before like Facebook or Youtube but trying to remember where.

Maybe. I thought there was some social network thing where it was available as an option just to select +1.
Maybe I'm confusing it with Like button on FB.
