Wimbledon Day 8
First topic message reminder :
Tennis fans what a treat for the day.
Murray v Gasquet
Nadal v Del Potro
Federer v Youzhny
Djokovic v Llodra
Where is the banana skin?? I think Llodra could upset 2011's Iron Man Novak Djokovic given that he has been serving well all championship and has a solid net game.
Also the side dish of today's play is
Kubot v Lopez
Fish v Berdych
Ferrer v Tsonga
Malisse v Tomic

Jubbahey wrote:There are some real Nadal haters on here today, why any top ten player would say Nadal is a nice guy and a good sportsman considering his assumed, unscrupulous and seemingly shameless MTO's with fraudulent injuries, makes me wonder who the blinkered posters are on this forum.
The numbers of you making things up to feed your hatred of someone is bad for your health, its also a bit slanderous to call someone a cheat when you have absolutely no proof apart from a fragile opinion and some dubious "out of context" remarks.
To be fair, many, many players take MTO's for quite a few different reasons, not just for an injury, the TO is there and can be used for whatever purpose the player needs and it would surprise me if Nadal took this only chance of a "breather" this early in a match just for the sake of what a few of you call "cheating".
What a ridiculous post. We hate cheating so we are Nadal haters.
Even if he was injured. Shoudl he really have waited the end of the set? Thta's what a gentleman woudl do.
No excuse for the faker. He still runs faster than anybody out there. And as GP mentioned, Nadal is 100%!...and shoudl have been sets to love down really

Nadal making too many unforced errors and playing a power hard court game against Del Potro. He should take pace off the ball and slow it down. His forehand is awful at the moment.

Tenez no offence like but why don't you concentrate on your own player Roger Federer. That is what I would be doing if Murray was playing right now.

Tenez, please refrain from allegations of 'cheating' or 'faking' without the necessary proof to back it up. Thanks

No offence but the difference between you and me is that I am not a fan of a player. I am a fan of tennis and when I see the number one faking again injuries and bringing the game to low gamesmanship level I become more interested in seeing him lose than wacthing any other player. He might not lose but I quite like the idea of him losing.

Well cheating is a serious allegation. I would for the sake of debate would like some 'facts' to support that statement as it is a taboo subject in the tennis world and has never been highlighted as a problem by the pro's.

Can you see Rafa slowing down? Honestly? do you know what it means not to be 100% at this level? WHat proof are your looking for? by a lie detector?

Also Tenez claims Nadal is 'a cheat'. How odd? After all if anyone is in a position to hold resentment therefore it would be fellow pros yet he is the most popular player out there who commands respect. How is this so if he is a cheat the other players would despise him.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
Tenez I have both matches on Nadal had a shot of lidocaine which is an anaesthetic. He will feel it in the morning. As I write this Delpo has gone down. Shall we question the integrity of that?

Well we shall see how del Potro reacts at the end of the match and in his post-match comments and I would be confident there would be no malice in his comments only praise and admiration. Why don't you take a sabbatical from tennis then Tenez if you feel so offended by the men's world No.1 and return to the sport once he has retired?

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
Hope the Del Potro fall isn't bad and he returns ok. This is a great match and has to be completed. Some times, it's best to ignore these sad Federer fans. If the head to head between Nadal and Federer was 17-8 in favour of Federer and he has 19 slams, they will not be here showing frustration and hatred.

Youzhny asks for a hawkeye on a Federer BH slice on break point.....and it's in. Federer breaks the Russian.

Why should I quit the sport because of Nadal? Seeing him player lose is part of the reason why I watch tennis too.

Federer builds on the break after starving off a break point chance for Youzhny. Leads 2-0 in the 4th.

Youzhny has shown some signs of brilliance and signs of lunacy too. Shame. Holds his serve and Federer still up a break. 2-1.

I like it how it's considered almost blasphemy here to criticise Nadal once in a while. I just find it slightly annoying how often he seems to be injured, especially when he's involved in a close match. One match that has always stuck in my mind is when he lost to David Ferrer in the Australian Open. Ferrer played a fantastic match, painting the lines point after point, yet the only thing that was said after the match was that Nadal only lost it because he was injured.

Not by Nadal though if I remember rightly? I think Nadal had only praise for Ferrer after that match and didn't mention the injury at all...

Did you not see the post match press conference when Nadal had nothing but praise for Ferrer and was not willing to accept the press questioning his fitness or form?
