Wimbledon Day 8
First topic message reminder :
Tennis fans what a treat for the day.
Murray v Gasquet
Nadal v Del Potro
Federer v Youzhny
Djokovic v Llodra
Where is the banana skin?? I think Llodra could upset 2011's Iron Man Novak Djokovic given that he has been serving well all championship and has a solid net game.
Also the side dish of today's play is
Kubot v Lopez
Fish v Berdych
Ferrer v Tsonga
Malisse v Tomic

Federer 4-2 up in the 4th. Youzhny needs something special. Tiebreaker for Nadal and Delpo.

I'm going to get blasted for the next paragraph but I'll put it out there anyway. Nadal made a big deal of his injury throughout the match, so anyone watching it was well aware of his problems. Therefore, him denying it in the press conference didn't really do anything to convince anyone that he was not injured, but what it did do was enhance his reputation as a good sportsman. It was a win win ploy, effectively. It's not only Nadal that annoys me in regards to the constant state of being injured; Murray tends to do this as well.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
When does Murray do this?
So when you say Nadal made a big 'deal' can you define this exactly because you have seemed to have picked the wrong match to give an example of Nadal blaming injury.

Of what? If you're talking about Murray then the whole French Open would be a prime example.

2-1 to Nadal now, i still think that there is a twist to come. I honestly believed that Del Potro would beat Nadal today.

Let's debate that in a while. Still enjoying this match to talk about the 'prospects' Delpo is showing serious mental fortitude.

Nadal breaks the Delpo serve for the first time. Shows how brilliantly Delpo has been serving.

Delpo has done everything. Kick Nadals bottles over and then move his chair!! I can't think anymore he can do. Nadal leads 4-2.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
Bad i had to post this as my first post,
winning ugly, this seems to be a tactic that nadal is very happy to play, i didnt play sport at an well an international level but i did play sport for 20 years of my life. i admire nadal for his never give up attitude but faking injury ?? thats below the belt.
this is what that never allows me to warm up to him, the line calls today were appalling.
well all that counts is the name on the cup these days.

I don't mind players being criticised in terms of opinion, but if your going to make allegations at least have the proof to back it up.

we only praise and sing here?, i'm all up for it, for the right reasons but what he did on the start of the tiebreak for the first set is ugly
even a shin bone pain is hell when you are just running, if you had something on your heel, that too on the bone its a show stopper, that is what he suggested he had and it was there for the all to see what more proof do you need a DR certificate?

So I take it you missed the part it was confirmed by the trainer he had to have a shot of lidocaine? An anaesthetic to numb the pain. So again there is proof it was legit.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
And parthi did we see the doctor saying that Nadal was fine and telling him to get on with it? No and he is a medical expert unlike (I am presuming) yourself or Tenez. And like I said earlier del Potro warmly congratulated Nadal putting an arm around him. He wasn't offended in any way and he has more reason to be offended than anyone but obviously recognises the injury was genuine.

Delpo did seem to be annoyed when the MTO was called, and was entitled to due to the legality, but the decision fell with the chair umpire.

i'm amazed with the response here, Dr relies on your feedback to access what will Nadal say i'm only faking it?
what do you expect from Delporto throw a tantrum at the net after getting defeated?

How do you come to that conclusion? I have seen many players come through matches carrying 'genuine' injuries such as Murray in Roland Garros. A player doesn't need to be stretchered off the court writhing in agony for it to be quantified as genuine. And I see you care not to address the doctor's opinion who had to give Nadal pain killers. Also I will ask you again why was del Potro not fuming at the end? He warmly embraced Rafa - not a reaction you'd give to someone you'd think had faked an injury. Del Potro is the only one with a right to be angry and evidently he wasn't so why not let the matter drop?

Yes why not? I mean he has done it in the past when upset but evidently he was not upset at all this evening so why are you?
