Wimbledon Day 8
First topic message reminder :
Tennis fans what a treat for the day.
Murray v Gasquet
Nadal v Del Potro
Federer v Youzhny
Djokovic v Llodra
Where is the banana skin?? I think Llodra could upset 2011's Iron Man Novak Djokovic given that he has been serving well all championship and has a solid net game.
Also the side dish of today's play is
Kubot v Lopez
Fish v Berdych
Ferrer v Tsonga
Malisse v Tomic

Murray with some superb slicing!!! Proves some importance in the slice. Wayward FH by Gasquet. Think he blinked there.

Murray upped his level quite beautifully in that TB, the rally at 4-3 was phenomenal!

Murray takes the tiebreaker. Good stuff when it mattered. Wonder if he will go out on the attack in the 2nd. Momentum is a good thing in a situation like this.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
thought Murray was going to do his usual "let the opponent back in the game" party trick there at 0-30, but he refocuses and hits three clean winners, before a Gasquet error gives him the hold

Andy doing well so far against a dangerous opponent in Gasquet. Great shot from Muzza to take it to deuce.

Both players really ripping through the ball now. This is going to be a much more 'power' based set.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
Murray was unlucky there to break his string on break point. He's using the forehand cross court well, to pull Gasquet out wide on his forehand.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
Break for Andy - now 5-3 up.
Tomic seems to have absolutely demolished Malisse - shows my prediction skills...
Also, on the women's side several one-sided matches but not the one I expected (Serena to demolish Bartoli).

well I had Tomic in five dummy, so wasn't great either. Murray takes the second set with a comfortable servie game and leads two sets to love!

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
Murray is really unsporting type...
Gasquet hits a sweet return winner and Murray berates himself like a child, and doesn't tap his racquet to say "nice shot"
Would be great should Gasquet wake up in the 3rd.

Bartoli breaks. I like her. I don;t know why as she certainly can be very irritating but it is this single minded spirit I like.

Pathetic!

Like you berate Josiah M for undeservedly berating Murray, yet JM didn't berate Murray for playing well, but for his un-sporting behaviour, thereby you yourself have undeservedly berated Josiah M. This, sir, is hypocrisy of the highest order.

Unsporting behaviour? Is it unsporting behaviour to berate yourself as Andy did? Of course not he just sets such high standards for himself - no crime.
PS Magical tennis from Anndy Murray to break Gasquet in the third set.

Hardy's here...
Saltyre-tinted glasses perchance?
It is surely unsporting not to acknowledge good play by your opponent, isn't it?

So one point determines someone's behaviour? Very educated.
Talking of hypocrisy sir, didn't you say a couple of weeks ago that Tsonga was your favourite player because he resembles a certain Ali and yet here you are supporting Gasquet???
Pot Kettle sir!

Hmmm. Double standards, anyone?
No, I said I was supporting Tsonga in that particular match.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
Murray now serving for the match at 5-2, that first break demolished Gasquet's resolve and he breaks again with very little fuss.

Re: Wimbledon Day 8
I have seen Andy on many occasions applauding opponents shots with a little 'Yes' as in too good a shot to get etc so blows your unsporting theory out of the water but of course you choose to ignore those moments.
I'll say again he sets high standards and feels the need to berate himself at times but doesn't mean he doesn't acknowledge his opponents as can be seen by how warmly his defeated opponents congratulate him - if he was so unsporting you wouldn't get that from his opponents.

Hmmm. Stick to boxing UC. Wimbledon has been on for a week and yet here you are trying to lecture posters?
Really? In that match? So tell me UC, what is good about Gasquet's game as you have so much knowledge to disperse?

I know it has been on for a week, what is the relevance?
I'm not lecturing anyone, you seem very defensive and cliquey on this forum, it is not a place for sensible discussion.
I will leave you to it.
