Haye Vs Klitschko Undercard
Just some info really, undercard for the Haye Klitschko fight:
Heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko Vs David Haye 12
Cruiserweight Ola Afolabi Vs Terry Dunstan 12
Bantamweight Ashley Sexton Vs Mike Robinson 8
Light welterweight Gabor Veto Vs James Kimori 6
Light middleweight Tony Harrison Vs Artur Umarov 4
Middleweight Ryan Aston Vs TBA
Nothing to get excited about at all there. Thought because of the magnitude of the fight, we would get a good card. Apparently not.

am a little suprised about the lack of quality in the undercard. with so many people destinted to watch you think they would have wanted to go all out and put on a spectical. if the haye/klitchsho fight ends quickly then they might find themselfs getting a bit of flack over it.

Re: Haye Vs Klitschko Undercard
They really need to go back to the days of having world title fights on the undercard to world title fights, don't they? Makes it all so much more value for money to the fan, and likewise helps generate much more interest in the sport to let's say the casual fan that happens to be tuning in...if they go away having enjoyed the majority of the fights on the card then in all likelihood they will buy the next big event, too.
Unfortunately money dictates that this won't happen again in the near future, and fighters such as Khan, Bradley, Judah etc (just as examples) will feel that they have to headline each time they box.
In reality, there would be no shame in being the support fight to a heavweight unification bout, and it'd make things so much better for the sport. Don King may be a despicable crook, but he certainly had the right idea with regard to stacking cards.

You would have thought that Haye could have got his mate Harrison a fight on the undercard

Good post Fists. With huge numbers of casual fans tuning in for this one - it would have been a perfect time to get some good named fighters on to put on a good show. Just purely to get boxing back to the masses. Even if 5% of the casual audience wanted to watch more boxing from this - it would be a step in the right direction.

Re: Haye Vs Klitschko Undercard
The Klitschko's are well known for putting generally poor cards on, the last few fights they have had have had no depth to them. Given this is a unification and people are going to buy PPV's and tickets irrespective was always unlikely this would buck the trend. Is a real shame though because with the world watching including a lot of casual fans would have been an ideal opportunity to hook in new fans and potentially get them attending fights live which has to be good for the sport.

They have missed a huge trick here.

Re: Haye Vs Klitschko Undercard
they know full well that people will buy this without a undercard, whats the point on paying some good fighters to fight on the undercard when your going to get exactly the same amount of money putting nobodys on there that cost half as much. not right i agree, but thats boxing these days for you

Just wish the promoters would look at the big picture rather than concentrating all their efforts on lining their own pockets.

On a separate note - does anyone know when Haye will start his ringwalk or where I can find out? Cheers.

I think that 10pm is the best bet. I check around a few other forums and the consensus is around 10ish - maybe a tad later.

Re: Haye Vs Klitschko Undercard
This is the problem when boxers self promote. They invest little into the undercard because they want to keep the lions share for themselves. Independent promotors are more likely to spread the wealth across several fighters to offer better value for money in the hope of garnering more buys. This fight is no doubt a joint hayemaker/K2 promotion and they know it'll sell well regardless of the undercard, so they don't have to stack it to give value when they can pocket more revenue for themselves.

Good point about self promtion SBS - seems like more and more boxers want to setup their own promotions company. Sign of things to come then! 1 good fight and a guff undercard.

That undercard is shocking!
Terry Dunstan as the main support?? Didn't he retire about ten years back?
